Fuck I am watching NHL showdown right now... I want hockey :(

punkwax 09-13-2012 06:59 PM

I watched a bit of the 87 Canada Cup... ahhhhh, the good ole days where dirty plays weren't called often unless they stopped a goal from happening.

It is down two - Phoenix and Vancouver. Coyotes Captain Shane Doan will sign a contract deciding where he will play by 5 pm NY time Friday

Same guy that broke the Steve Nash to Lakers deal.

Ch28 09-13-2012 09:48 PM

Going into tomorrow assuming he will just re-sign with Phoenix

Dear Shane Doan,

The Coyotes will move to Quebec/Seattle and the fans there wont give a shit what you have done for the Coyotes. You will most likely be forgotten by PHX fans once the relocation is set. :fuckthatshit:

Big Earl

AzNightmare 09-13-2012 11:02 PM

oh! I must have misread a few posts back. Thought he was already signed with the Coyotes. lol

jeedee 09-14-2012 12:10 AM

^No it wasn't confirmed, just rumors that he'd resign with Phoenix since "they got a deal done".

But tomorrow's the supposed deadline for Doan to sign.

This offseason hasn't been kind to us (Schultz, Weber etc) so I'll say he officially signs with Phoenix :okay:

spideyv2 09-14-2012 12:14 AM

Watch Doan sign with the Coyotes at 4:59pm EST

Vale46Rossi 09-14-2012 12:17 AM

Getting Doan will be my highlight of hockey this year if the lockout stays haha =P

cliffhanger33 09-14-2012 06:37 AM

luck's never been on our side, so im just gna assume Doan signing with PHX :okay:

IMO as long as they keep the team there he's not leaving, and it wouldn't be too great to have him for 7.5 a year
esp with cap ceiling lowered

Hondaracer 09-14-2012 06:59 AM

If he's coming to van he ain't getting 7.5....

For once, I actually agree with Mark Spector on his article about Bettman.

The commish is the main reason why the NHL is facing another impending lockout. Bettman has shown poor judgement in making decisions in running the league.
-expanding the NHL to hockey mad cities like Phoenix, Florida, and Carolina? Really?

This economist that Spector refers to in his article is spot on in his assessment about Bettman. The big problem is that the Board of Governors that hired this guy are also a bunch of buffoons when it comes to running a professional sports league.

Burrows is smart enough to know his offensive production is a large byproduct of playing with Hank/Dank so I don't see another Anson Carter situation here. With what Trow Brauer signed for today, I think its pretty clear Burrows will be in the 4M range.

From what I recall, 2m/yr for Burrows back then was considered generous. He signed in 2008 and didn't break out until after he signed the contract. I guess 4M is a possibility considering the cap space. But it's still a hefty sum for a player that just happened to fit in.

$29.5M over 5 for Kari Lehtenon via TSN.

Seems like all these recent contracts are over payments but owners want to reduce payroll :fulloffuck:

While I hate Bettman as much as the next hockey fan, the expansion teams in Florida & Anaheim were already there before his start in '93. The only teams added during his tenure was NSH, ATL, COL, and MIN. Not great, but Minnesota is doing alright.

Rest of the article is spot on.

Doan announcement should be within 2 hours. Will be interesting if he signs here especially with the lockout looming.
