There was a charity game, Team Montreal vs Team Quebec and Burrows scored a beauty of a goal.

Mike Oxbig 10-11-2012 11:40 PM

the last goalie who stole the cup was tim thomas

the key is having carter, richard, kopitar, brown, penner, doughty, mitche ll,and quick on the same team

There is not one key to go all the way. You need many things to happen.

-no injuries
-secondary scoring
-elite goaltending
-coach able to make adjustments from game to game, series to series
-your best players have to be the best players
-luck
-toughness

punkwax 10-12-2012 07:54 AM

You must be assuming the 1st and 2nd lines are performing if you believe the key to success is the 3rd and 4th lines.

Without a strong top 2, you aren't going anywhere either.. it's a team game from top to bottom.

I was about to just say you were wrong, but after thinking about it a little you might be right.

Not to take anything away from the Bruins who elevated their game and helped them win (a goalie doesn't perforate Lu) but if Thomas wasn't playing like a man possessed out there it definitely would have been a different series. Thomas made such an impact... That being said, Rask is a solid goaltender himself..

Oh gawd I just don't want to think about it anymore.. :QQ:

^ I may be alone in my thought, but IMO the Canucks made Thomas look better than he actually/really was. Just a series before vs. Tampa, Stamkos and co. made Thomas look like a sieve. The Canucks just weren't able to drive the net and use the same successful strategies that Tampa were. If the Canucks had won game 7, many would have felt that the better team in the series lost the cup, myself included. So really Thomas didn't really have to steal any games, nor the cup. We just made him look smug and good.

I wonder if we'll still be talking about 'The Run' 5 years from now, lol.

Tampa made Thomas look the same way Boston made Luongo look

Of course we will. Until we win the Cup, all we have to reminisce on are the SCF series' in which we lost.
:okay:

Even if the bruins man handle the nucks they still had tons of shots on net.

My sanity may be lost with a full season lockout. But something I read gave me a little hope: I could look forward to shedding $18 million in cap space and a draft lottery where the Leafs would have a good chance at getting the #1 pick. If it is set up the same way it was last time, Leafs have 3 chances to win due to longest playoff drought and no #1 pick since the 80's. Who am I kidding, Bettman will just rig the draft like he did with Crosby. :okay:

HonestTea 10-12-2012 05:31 PM

FUCK!!! Having major NHL withdrawals :(

League and PA have scheduled a bargaining session for Tuesday. Location, agenda and who participates to be decided Monday. #NHLlockout

Does the lockout eat a year of contracts? If so, that would definitely benefit the leafs. With this draft, Leafs only realistically need a top 5 pick. since they don't have a legit shutdown defenseman, a franchise centerman (Barkov, Mackinnon, Monahan), or could settle for a kessel clone (Shinkarauk).

On another note: Whoa, Nicklas Jensen has 7 points in 11 games in the SEL.

Think of it this way, at least, with the season not having started yet, the Leafs haven't lost a game yet.

Leafs still have a chance to be undefeated if the lockout ends

:)

Mike Oxbig 10-13-2012 03:30 PM

Arent the Canucks one of the most hated teams in the league by players? Maybe they have every reason to drop everything and flee to europe to screw us over.
