losing 30m per season, to MAYBE make 1m per game like the Canucks do isnt profitable.

Mike Oxbig 01-02-2013 06:05 PM

Lol easier for some teams to tank for lottery pick this year

seth jones will still be #1 overall pick

Tim Budong 01-02-2013 06:16 PM

IMO, I think the season length of 82 games is just about right... Look at a MLB season! And the 16-28 playoff games shows that the Stanley Cup is the toughest trophy to win in professional sports.

The CFL is fun as hell to watch but it's a pretty sad league if there's 8 teams and 6 make the playoffs. We only love it because its our sad little league. I can understand why Americans don't care.

Yes, more Canucks, Leafs, Canadiens, Rangers, Red Wings and Flyers games but you're also getting more Columbus, more Florida, more Tampa, more Islanders, etc. Yes, revenue goes up but so does operating costs.

LOL more games = solution to all our problems! :lol

NO. I would dance a jig, immediately. Like whatever I was doing, as soon as I heard the news, I'd fucking tap dance. Plenty of people must've wished Hitler would die in the 40s....they probably didn't feel bad when he fucking did.

There's a special circle of hell reserved for Gary Bettman...where he will be forced to watch the 1995 New Jersey Devils play the 2003 Nashville Predators, it's always 0-0 and it's always the first 10 minutes of the first period. FOR ETERNITY.

DanHibiki 01-02-2013 07:07 PM

^lol. pretty extreme to compare him to hitler don't u think...

Ronin 01-02-2013 07:11 PM

We'll see where the lockout goes. The window is closing, dammit.

Tim Budong 01-02-2013 09:24 PM

I stopped blaming Gary...
He's almost become the puppet..
as for Donald Fehr, hes a fucking puppeteer

both men, still douchebags

iwantaskyline 01-02-2013 09:38 PM

So...the players passed on their self-imposed deadline to file a "disclaimer of interest". Seems like they're going to accept a deal before the 11th.

"I think the lockout ends next Monday, the 7th, camps begin on the 10th and the 1st game is on the 18th or 19th. Light at the end of the tunnel now since it's the 1st time NHL and owners have pressure and the whole season really is in jeopardy.

"Right now I'm optimistic and think the season will begin. We (players) have wondered why this has taken so long and NHL has taken that stance."

sonick 01-03-2013 09:12 AM

Sooo... Canada lost to the US. Russia vs Canada for Bronze, US vs Sweden for Gold. :okay:

Ch28 01-03-2013 03:40 PM

NHLPA doing another vote for disclaimer of interest. They better fucking use it instead of wasting our time.

cliffhanger33 01-05-2013 12:04 PM

lots of twitter feeds claiming lock out is over, but again not sure if legit
@BretHedican: Nothing official yet that I've heard, but several sources have said it's done. Let's hope this is Official!

LOLOL i wouldnt trust his credibility

but we have some tweets like these:
@Real_ESPNLeBrun: NHL player (not in bargaining room) says he believes "talks are going well." ...
@TheFourthPeriod: Tremendous amount of "movement", one league source just told me.
@CraigCustance: Text from plugged in player confirms things are close but hedges with "you never know."

let's keep fingers crossed :concentrate:

It's believed the NHL has offered to increase next season's salary camp above $60 million, but at this point it's unclear to what extent.

"There's been movement. And process is moving again," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly told TFP.

While a deal is not expected to be finalized today, several reports suggest a deal could be imminent if some the remaining issues are ironed out this weekend.

There has been a significant amount of optimism stemming from those reporting on the CBA from New York City, where the meetings and mediation sessions are taking place, however another source told TFP "not to get ahead of yourselves. There's still plenty of work to be done."

apparently next 24-48hrs something may happen

cliffhanger33 01-05-2013 04:55 PM

@tpanotchCSN: Sources on both sides see Monday as likely date when all is settled. But could be late Sunday, as wel

will know soon

Edit: @GlobeKPD: Vet agent: deal as good as done, league now taking it to final hour, grabbing what's left to take off table.

The sched has been up on the Canucks site forever. All games were cancelled up to that day, so all they did was keep wiping out games till said date.

Nothing new.
