i'm still really really think oabout getting the passport... drool.. |
sweet jesus why did i wait so long to upgrade my z10 to a z30. this thing is beautiful and fast! and cant beat a sub $300 price tag either! |
Yeah when I had the z30 , it was so great and I hate touch screens! They have been going on sale for quite some time as low as 250 the last time I remembered. Sold it right before the passport came out. Planning to upgrade the company phones to classic soon, still using 9900s. I hate the email management on the BBOS because it would go by sort by subject line instead of sender.. Huge headaches after pounding out 200+ emails a day. |
By the way, found someone who works at blackberry , i can get phones on employee pricing if you are interested. PM is the key. |
Cant wait to pick this up |
Just got a Blackberry Classic. My Bold 9900 is dying a slow death by randomly resetting. The reset intervals are increasing daily for some bizarre reason. Haven't set up the Classic yet. Can't wait to do that next week. |
did anyone get the leap, never had good experience with BB & now sure if i should risk it again |
Leap is a mid-low tier device, if that is something you looking for then it will be good for you. |

I want to reiterate that Blackberry, for me, is a work horse. It's like, the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza of phones for me. It always works and it works well. If you're after a phone that will support a bunch of apps that tell you when you're period is due, or what to cook for dinner, to having a weather widget where a cat pops up, Blackberry isn't for you. The swipe motion/gestures, messaging system and hands down, the best in the market, despite all the nay-sayers. Battery life, call quality, and solid R&D behind the hardware and software are top priorities to me. Blackberry meets all the requirements. Regardless of entry level or top-tier Blackberry, you need to ask yourself what you are going to use the phone for. :accepted: |
My work has been replacing our Blackberries with S5's. I just got my S5, I fucking HATE IT. First of all, it's just too fucking big. A big screen is nice, but it feels like a big paddle. Plus, the glass seems so delicate that I have to use this massive otterbox case to protect it. I had no case on my Z10, and I dropped it many times, down the stairs once and it didn't even get nick on it. Second, Blackberry OS is so much better than android. I never appreciated BB OS's quick-swipe to message centre and open apps screen until I used android. It just works so much better. Also, it seems like Blackberry built a lot of things into BB OS as standard that you have to download apps (and sift through a lot of shitty ones) to get on Android. Third, the personal vs workspace on BB was awesome, which again I never appreciated until I used android. With BB, I could use my phone and apps without a lock on it and only needed to put in my password to access my work emails and contacts. With android my work forces a full phone lock with a strong password, autolocking every 30 minutes. Huge PITA, and it prevents me from using Bluetooth handsfree dialing when I'm in the car. I miss my Z10. :QQ: |
Just a quick update: I finally managed to find the time to switch over to the Classic from my Bold 9900. Initial impressions - OS10 is not new to me, but the recent update has features which are new to me. The work and personal space is definitely new, although this will strictly be a work phone. I've found that the interface isn't as fast as my Bold 9900, but perhaps this is a UX kind of thing I'll have to get used to. Keyboard / Swipe - I prefer the keyboard on the 9900 as they were more indented as compared to the Classic, but again, I'll just get used to it. Still love the swipe system, but if I were to compare apples to apples, Nokia's Meego on the Nokia N9 is by far, the best gesture based OS. Blackberry does a pretty good job of it, however. I had first taste of this when I bought their tablet hahaha! Overall - the phone has met my expectations. Next week Monday will tell for sure when I put it in full use. I cannot think of any device or brand of phone that has allowed me to do so much in the past three years. I think the amount of productivity on my Blackberry phones have trumped the amount of hours I've had compared to my other phones. Hands down, I cannot think of a better work phone than Blackberry and I've used a shit tonne of phones out there. Edit: Fuck. They released a limited edition Classic in blue. Brings back good memories of my old 6720. :okay: http://store.shopblackberry.com/stor...oryID.66826200 |
i had a curve way in the day (2nd gen i believe), that thing was horrible as i would have drop calls and wifi not working...........thing was just :heckno: i stayed away from it ever since also it lacked alot of mainstream apps which |
I think the Curve suffered from some manufacturing issues, but the one I had lasted me a solid 3 years until a bus ran over it. If apps are of great importance to you, I would recommend you not to get a Blackberry. |
bold 9000, best phone ever. |
I've had the Z30 for about a year and a half now, loving it...but always wondered about the Passport. Turns out I have an opportunity to upgrade my handset, but before I do...anyone been paying attention to Blackberry's "coming soon" phones? Anything coming in the next few months I might want to hold out for? The classic doesn't interest me much, and nothing in the "coming releases" in GSM Arena. So, before I try a Passport, am I making a mistake for the next two years? -Dave |
I posted the new phone render/video which is a slider , people are saying there are two versions, one bb10 , one android. specs are going to over take passports. Quote:
