It's been a while since I've read a sentence that short and at the same time so apt and accurate.

WUT.

So I was riding down Kingsway at traffic speed (50-60ish). All of a sudden I heard a loud snap noise and my rear wheel JUMPED UP. WTF. Then for a couple seconds the bike started to make a weird noise, and then it went back to normal. I thought I ran over something but I looked back and didn't see anything. I turned into a small street and had a look around my bike (not really knowing what I'm looking at) but nothing seemed broken or conspicuously out of place.

I started riding around the small streets at 30 ish to see if my bike would explode, and everything seemed fine. I turned back onto Kingsway and took it back up to speed, and so far, nothing seems out of place. (In hindsight, this probably wasn't the smartest idea, because if something was in fact, wrong, I could've ended up as road pizza.)

Now when I rode to work today, everything seemed fine.. But for some reason now I can't help but think that something doesn't feel stable. I don't know if it's all in my head and I'm just being paranoid or not.

Any ideas what it could've been? My friends think that I probably just ran over something and didn't notice it, but I was pretty positive I didn't (or else my front wheel would've hit it too?) Also the rear wheel popping up felt pretty violent.

Worst come to worst, take it in and have a mech do a 5 minute visual check. Don't mess around With the working condition of bike.

Is it chain driven? How is the tension. Does the clutch still operate smoothly?

PJ 10-02-2014 04:01 PM

Chain tension is fine, clutch works as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary seems to be going on. Maybe I did run over something

Today was prosperous. Passed my knowledge test for class 6 and got new boots and a new helmet. My girlfriend only has her 6N so I can't ride with her. Who wants to make me thir bitch?

Raid3n 10-03-2014 05:45 PM

320icar 10-03-2014 09:16 PM

Damn I have Friday/Saturdays off. I'm trying to get in contact with an old friend (anyone know robin m. Who owns a bunch of ducati's??) who we had an agreemt like 7 years ago for him to be my riding teacher. But can't find his cell number anywhere lol

qhey 10-04-2014 05:06 PM

Dude take a riding course. There is so much good info that you can learn that might save your life in the course.

320icar 10-04-2014 05:50 PM

I never said I wasn't going to.

vexor 10-05-2014 12:41 PM

Just got back from an impromptu ride with some friends. Lots and lots and lots of bikers on S2S. Very few police but bring a sweater, it's a bit chilly past hosershoe bay

underscore 10-05-2014 08:24 PM

Don't you need snow tires past the 1st though?

vexor 10-05-2014 08:51 PM

None of the 100+ bikers that i saw today didn't have them.

I'm not sure how often the RCMP actually enforce that law. On sunny days I doubt it but i'm sure when it snows then they'll be out in full force

320icar 10-05-2014 09:14 PM

My girlfriend and I have a big empty industrial lot down the street from us. Took the gixxer down there and had my first "lesson" lol. I rode dirt bikes as kid and have some road experience. It was easy peasy shifting and all that jazz.

Awesome..

dn53 10-05-2014 10:03 PM

Rode along the sunshine coast from Gibson's to earls cove. We caught the 10 o clock ferry and traffic was very light. Awesome roads and some tight corners. I would recommend you guys check it out if you haven't already

I'm guessing it comes into play more if you have an accident, I've never heard of an active snow tire check. I hate this time of year since the daytime highs are still fine for summer tires but the mornings/evenings get too cold for them.

Gh0stRider 10-05-2014 10:09 PM

when you guys taking your bike off the road?

Jas29 10-05-2014 11:42 PM

done sunshine coast highway a lot in my car, i have family in ruby lake, but canada day this year was the first time taking a bike through there.

it was decent, but i prefer that kind of road in a car. no room for error, you or opposing drivers..
