The maybe official quick motorcycle question/news not worthy of a new thread, thread So I bought a house and finally get to buy a bike, although it's only a townhouse which is half a house so I'm only going to buy half a bike so I can continue saving for a bigger house. I'm also going on my first week long vacation in over six years this July with the wife and kids in Quebec. But I didn't book a return ticket for myself, as I am going to pick up a 2015 Honda CB300F from a buddy in Ottawa and ride it home, only registered last August with 1600km on it for $3500. My original plan was to rent a bike there to ride around and fly return but I thought this would be an awesome way to do it especially on Canada's 150th birthday. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9634d93267.jpg I'm so excited. I was going to buy a 2017 version of this bike which is really nice this year, matte silver and hi vis green, looks super sleek. But for the price of a brand new model, I get to take my family on vacay and take home an almost new model on an epic road trip. I will document that trip home on my YouTube channel and also post photos. BTW, I already checked insurance with Megson which came up to a few bucks less than Beacon with $500 deductible. $250 deductible was not available as I only have a carport at my townhouse. I'll give them a try this year. ICBC is $33 a month with $1 mil liability. |
Have a safe fun ride. Maybe look into one of those throttle lock levers (no idea what they're actually called) so you have cruise control functions for the looooong, straight & flat prairie provinces. |
I recommend bringing a stash of hand warmers.. They will save you when you're cold. |

Thanks! There's this here, not quite cruise control but would supposedly allow me to maintain throttle with a light grip. For $15, doesn't hurt to try. https://fortnine.ca/en/kuryakyn-thro...ker-right-6255 Quote:
Good idea, I have a box full of hand warmers. I doubt I'll need them in July but you never know going through the mountain passes. My coworker gave me heated grips I can try to install before my trip. I am packing light with no textile anything, just a mesh jacket, riding jeans, rain suit, maybe some sort of warm liner, and dri-fit stuff to wear underneath. So if it does get cold, cold hands will be the least of my worries. But I'm only riding during daylight so it'll very likely be ok. Airhawk seat is a must, the small displacement CB(R) seats aren't great for long distance trips. Seller is including a wind screen and a ginormous tank bag. |
I think he means something like this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06XWFCP3N/...+throttle+lock |
That looks decent. Just worried about finicky things and having the throttle stuck on, but seems the design allows disengagement of the throttle if required. I forgot, being a scooter rider for the last year and a half, that I can squeeze the clutch if the throttle gets stuck open. |
hey. what are you guys using for helmet cameras? |

I got a GoPro 3 White (low end model) $199 on Amazon last year. I kinda want a Sena Prism Tube ($152 on Fort Nine) for a more integrated solution but the GoPro is handy for a lot of things like my kids' hockey. |

^ Nice is it the FZ 7, 9, 10? Yammy did a good job revising the F6. |

I actually really like those mirrors, when I decide to get rid of this bike there coming off and I'll put the factory mirrors back on so I can put them on my next toy. |
you guys just buy your degreaser, wax at pretty much any parts store eh. Canadian tire, etc. Curious about Oil too, big debate on that. Seems people just use automotive oil, and there's been a couple research papers online that also show that it works fine. |

Side note, went to GMR today.. First time! Had an absolute blast.. So much seat time, probably did a good 70-80 laps today. https://www.facebook.com/aaronbomb1/...5272783909114/ |
Some funny videos from todays track day. A new guy I met at the track today 2nd time on the track.. Watch near the end of the straight on the right hand side. Then there's me just going a little too fast in the rain. The track is super slick in the rain. |
