I only have 4 more days of insurance for the season - so off I went down the highway for a nice two hour cruise. Had my son help wash it upon return and sadly tucked it into the garage, where it will probably not get back out until May. Already have a plan of attack for the winter mods.

Anyone have thoughts about a Honda Grom? Thinking of something cheap/fun for getting to work. Just an itchy impulse of a thought. (Used to have a '03 Honda F4i but wasn't a fan of it as a commuter).

It’s smaller than you think and slower than you think. Fun bike to ride around the city but you’ll outgrow it fast most likely. Compare prices with a duke 390 which is a real motorcycle

Thanks! I do have a Class 6. That's a good suggestion on the KTM Duke 390, googled it.. and really like it. A bit more $$ but like you say it's a real motorcycle.

I've driven a few small bikes home for people and I really don't like how unstable they feel above 60kph. A gust of wind throws you around pretty damn fast.

waaat! F4i is decent for commuting :D it's sport touring so it's not totally leaning out over the front fork. i commuted with one for almost 2 years :D

what is it about the f4i you didn't like for commuting, what do you like about the smaller bikes? fuel consumption won't be a huge difference, but if you can get something as close to 399cc as you can, you'll save a lot on insurance without losing too much performance.

The grom is an amazing bike. Extremely nimble, comfortable and super fun. Super cheap, one of the largest options for aftermarket parts available, its the Civic of motorcycles.

The down side is it's just a 125, so you max out at like 110KPH full tuck(depending on weight) So no its not a HWY bike. Cause it takes a bit to get to 100kph. When you ride you ride on the defensive 100% of the time, you cant power out of any situation, so you have to be prepared to brake and evade dangerous situations.

All in all I would never sell my Grom, puts a smile on my face every time and the community I ride with is amazing, We do weekly stunt practice days and lots of riding.

It really just depends on your situation. I rode the Grom daily on the Barnet HWY without issues.

Looking to see if anyone knows or has a photo of a bike I saw recently in Langley.

I tried to get a good look but was only able to drive directly behind him.
I kept seeing him reaching way back behind him to shift. Never seen that on a bike before on the road. I wasn't sure what he was doing until I noticed there was no clutch lever so I turned my music down and could hear him shift through each gear. I tried to look up a suicide clutch/jockey shifter but couldn't find one where his was located - almost beside the rear tire. Looked like he had to lean back and blindly grab it. Couldn't tell but it looked like he had a giant dice on the end of it.

Anyone know which bike I'm talking about?? I can't see there being to many of them around so I'm hoping to see some photos of this bike if possible. :)

Suicide shifters aren't that popular for a reason - every fashion has its faults. Most use a foot clutch - so you need one foot on the clutch, one on the brake, and you better be in neutral when you come to a stop in order for you to be able to put one foot down.

Just a reminder for you guys to be careful out there. I was taken out by a illegal left turner last week. I was lucky b/c there was heavy rush hour congestion at the time going east on Kingsway right before Boundary. There was a parked car just past Lincoln before Boundary so I slowed down. Normally I shift over to the right side of the lane if I think there is a left-hand turner. I could not tell if the traffic left a gap for someone to turn left so I stayed in the left side of my lane. Next thing I know I see the front end of a minivan and I only had time to let go of my handlebars and I am flying over the hood of the van. I was wearing a backpack at the time and it saved my upper back from injury but my lower back hit the ground really hard. No broken bones, but really bad lower back pain and a concussion from the whiplash.

Did anyone do #BTO2K19?

I went over the weekend and it was something else. The riding down south is so much fun. Full day of running red lights and the cops were fine with it.. Over 300+ bikes showed up and tones of stunts happening all day. During the initial meet for the first hour, people were doing stunts up and down the street. It was quite the experience.

Six weeks without a post? Unacceptable! :)

Ill be riding the next 2 days!

I rode into Coquitlam from Squamish this morning and didn't pass one other bike on the road, it's like I have the pavement all to myself!

I got the Squampton crew together (first time we could all go together) for our last breakfast run of the riding season. Insurance runs out for most of us next week and a few guys had only day permits just to come on this 120km ride. It was 0c when I left my house, 1c when the group left on our ride, and then it warmed up to 12c around noon. It was a superb fall ride and I know I won't be happy when my insurance runs out on Tuesday.

Yup - 2008 FLTRU 105th Anniversary Edition. Of course, it is always getting tweaked to my liking, but overall it has been a great touring bike with all the somforts of bags, all the power needed with my 110" motor, and (knock on wood) no break-downs ever. I just rolled 72k on it and will put another 100k on it without a worry.

After replacing my entire cam chest/lifters/oil pump, I took it for a break-in spin. 3c and salty roads were not going to stop me, I had to feel the rumble of the fresh rebuild before going into winter storage.

Haven't had a chance yet unfortunately, only got the bike this October. Ive put a few day permits on it since then but haven't gone anywhere far.

So it’s that time of year. I didn’t get out riding once last year. The gsxr has been in pieces for at least 2 years and life caught up and overtook the project. As it happens I’m moving and shits gotta get done. As of right now it can’t even roll with no tires.

So I’ll have to put the RS on the back burner. Ordered a full set of new fairings, new front and rear rotors. Picked up a set of Michelin Pilot powers and will refinish the wheels. Parts to still order in no particular order
- front/rear pads
- front/rear braided lines
- new tank pads
- rear seat cowl
- possibly new levers, undecided
- probably new chain
- check sprockets, decide what tooth count and maybe 520 conversion

What are you guys planning to do for your rides this summer? How long until you start to insure

Edit: also forgot that I have the gsxr 1000 titanium header sitting there to swap in, so I’d also need a new slip on

This year, I am planning on perhaps performing an Iron Butt ride to either California or Fort Mac to visit a few friends. I also have a friend retiring and moving to Montana - so I am thinking that deserves a ride, for sure. I'll probably insure the bike at the end of March, like always. I have a few more items to install first - including my new Rekluse clutch, which I am looking forward to very much.
