Jeans is the basic minimum i wear for a ride that's 20 km or less.

I'll full full protected leather pants afterwards.

*tip for all. When Aug starts rolling in, I'll bring a pair of compression pants when I ride after 5 PM; when the sun hits, it gets fooking cold riding at 8 pm - 12AM. (yes thta's when I usually ride).

If I were to get anything over 600cc, i'd be fully geared. The bike is heavier, has a higher chance of making mistakes and simply you cant stop as fast as you could on a smaller bike or cage. Now that isnt to say I wouldnt ride with jeans, but that would be mostly for small commutes and city only riding.. Anything HWY is full gear.

I'm sorry but this is just a bad way of looking at things when it comes to protective gear. Jeans will do jack squat even at a slow speed crash. And riding distance has nothing to do with how much you should wear.

My first not at fault accident happened literally 4 blocks away from my house. An old timer was turning left and wasn't looking and sideswiped me. I managed to keep the bike upright but I felt his bumper against my left leg and the left fairings were done for. If I didn't have my proper riding pants on, I would have had some serious scratches against my leg but instead my motorcycle pants took the brunt of it.

What I'm trying to say is, wear full gear ALL THE TIME regardless of how long or short your ride is going to be. You may be the greatest rider in the world but you never know when that one idiot in a car will hit you.

Any opinions on pants like the ones in the link below? Hoping to find something that looks a bit more subtle so I can still wear it comfortably when off the bike. I did hear a lot of horror stories about jeans so trying to keep away from it, but just don't really know what to get yet.

Not exactly jeans, but if you want casual looking pants go for Dainese New Drake. Great pants with good protection, amazing airflow and removable armour. They are literally the only good looking motorcycle pants and outside of any on-track riding you'll have the opportunity to wear them more often in the greatest number of riding scenarios. The Kevlar denims barely look like casual clothing and only look passable if you're also attempting to become a Juggalo or ironically cosplaying as a dude that wears clown pants from a 1990's rave. Don't even get me started on the wrongness of Kevlar as a next-to-skin anti abrasion material or how the organic fibre known as cotton that constitutes denim traps and holds scents that'll make them the stinkiest pair of jeans you'll ever own.

Anyone know of any deals for a learners course? Specifically one that does MST testing as well.

Went down today for the first time :( car in front of me made an abrupt stop and I didn't have enough time to stop the bike so I crashed into the trunk and flipped over the bike. My crotch dented the gas tank pretty good so needless to say my groin is sore and tender. Other than that I did not sustain any other injuries so feeling really fortunate. Picked this bike up less than a week ago too, so choked.

I mean this the most respectfully anyone can, but LMAO at the crotch dent dude! Are you icing those bad boys or are they actually made of steel? I've never seen anything like that. Tanks are difficult to dent man... I hope you already have children because I don't know if you can after an impact like that.

The paramedic and police were surprised at the dent my crotch made, I was originally going to get released from the ambulance and not get taken to the hospital but after we noticed the dent they all suggested I go to the hospital to get it checked further lol. They feel fine today, still a bit sore but I can confirm the baby maker still works :) Perhaps I do have balls of steel haha.

Funny story, I sent this picture to my boss and she said that at least I can brag about how big the dent in the gas tank is lol.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a place that can help me either add snaps on the waist of my jacket, or just replace the snaps all together with velcro? Sold my Alpinestar jacket and got a Dainese jacket but the waist snaps are way too wide for me. I actually liked the velcro option on the waist for my A* jacket as it had more adjustability.

Don't reallly want to just drop it off at a random sewing place since the jacket was expensive and some of those places seem like they don't care about stuff, does anyone have any recommendations on where I can take it to?

Leather or Textile? You could always try random cobbler shops. Adding snaps to anything is retardedly easy to anyone that owns the snap fastener installation tool. Should be $10-ish. The difficult part will be finding snaps that match what you have.
