Thats just from memory, I think thats what it is.

After you completed the slalom twice then you proceed to the green line to do the emergency brake. Dont use your rear brake at all for the emergency brake, they fail people if their back tire makes tire marks.

Actually fuck, now that I think of it I think I did the emergency braking thing twice... but whatevs, im pretty sure that is more or less the icbc mst layout.

don't know much about the dainese or sidi boots you listed but from what it seems, s-mx 5 is the most popular out of those 3. don't listen to me though, go in the stores and try them on. daytona, bayside and modern have em from what i know.

I had a pair of Dainese Axial Pro, SIDI Vortice and now Alpinestar SuperTech R.

Alpinestar is the best and easy to wear in terms of comfort.

SIDI US size is one size smaller than a Alpinestar US sizing so make sure you try em on before buying. US Size 10 = 44 for SIDI and US Size 10 = 45 for others

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new pair of boots but I can't decide on which one to get. They'll mainly be used for street riding. These 3 all fall into the range of my budget:

Alpinestars S-MX 5
Dainese Giro-ST
Sidi Fusion

It'll be great if anyone could share their experience with any of these or know of any local shops to get them, I've only been looking on the Bayside site.

The A* S-MX 5 are good

Sidi I would take the Cobra over the Fusion. The Cobra is in the same price range as the S-MX 5

Dainese TRQ would be the boot I would use

This is how we did it at prs but they made everybody run the course twice so u did the slalom twice and the emergency breaking twice

You should consider the Dainese TRQ like Gwilo suggested. I looked at the smx-5 and Sidi cobra back then. What sold me was for 60$ more you get extra ankle protection that other boots don't offer until you hit around the 400$ mark. Having said that, all the boots you listed above a great choices. Just try them on and choose the one that suits you most.

lil_kid 05-21-2013 11:38 PM

Thanks for all the input, it definitely helps with the decision making! Seems like the Alpinestars is the more popular choice. Hopefully I have time to try them on this weekend.

Get what fits you best for all the equipment. That is the most important deciding factor

Gwilo, I thought it would be fitting as you would be the most informative, mature staff member we have on RS. Please continue to guide the starters and less-experienced in the motorcycling world. :)

When ever I try on in a store I make note of the brand and size.

Keep a list on you smartphone so when you do buy on line you have the sizing.

A* and SIDI Boots 44

Teknic 46 jacket

A* jacket and pant who knows each style is different

RS Taichi BIG Size 54 to 58

Dainese 46 to 48 American or 54 - 56 Euro

Gloves Euro Race Cut Large American Cut Med

You never know when a sale will break out :)

?NR 05-23-2013 07:08 PM
