Try everything on and make sure things fit perfectly. You don't want extra slack in your gloves or anything like that, takes away from the feel (snug ones will stretch out eventually.) Main thing is make sure everything fits you, don't sacrifice because of sale price or anything like that.

If price is not an issue go all out

Budget cant get everything at once style i would focus on these items first in the following order

1) BOOTS - spend the dough, check out smx series, any group ride you go on i guarentee you there will be riders wearing them, good boot at a good price

2) Kneepads/pants - Knee pads are good because of price and you can wear them under regular clothes, very helpful many times for me when you end up being on your knees working on a car or something :fullofwin: dat extra benefit.

Pants are of course more protective, but honestly the main benefit is hip protection, wearing knee pads im not too worried about road rash on my thighs and calves. Of course you can just buy those snowboard style hip protectors too instead of pants.

3) Gloves - Get protection from rocks and bugs that hit your hand. A bug being smashed in your hand is not only gross, but at high speeds fucking painful. These i wouldnt mind getting cheap ass ones.

4) Jacket - why is this fourth on the list??? how i figure, is that it only really protects your elbows and shoulders. I've heard from professional racers that sometimes when they crash, the only thing they really injure are their feet/foot area. plus, if you do end up injuring your elbows/shoulders, it's easier to recover since you can just stop using the injured upper limb. as opposed to your feet/knees, being on crutches is much more inconvenient than wearing a sling.

5) anything else! :nyan:

Pants of all the pants I have (gear whore here) I wear my Rubberside Down pants the most Max Air ( Motorcycle Clothing Vancouver - Max Air ) and I believe about $ 250 and the Shotgun where $ 240.

The Teknic Chicane / Mercury are about $ 300

Tap Moto which Daytona carrier are also in the $ 300 range ( TAP Moto | Tarmac Abrasion Protection )

That I do is check out Revzillia and STG website for the product reviews and videos and then buy local if I can.

got my class 6 test coming up this monday. kinda nervous not gonna lie been thinking about it for a while since i finished prs 3 weeks ago. any tips on the routes they'll be taking you on? im not too familiar with the surrey roads so i'll be on the lookout for speed limits for sure haha

Shoulder check a lot and between all lateral lane position changes, put some sort of reflective tape on your helmet vertically so they can see you shoulder check.

Practice up on your U turns, from what i heard and my test included they make you U turn on a more narrow residential road. Make sure feet are off the ground for the U turn.

Keep bike in gear, only put in neutral when they tell you to stop and park sort of thing. If the examiner tells you something confusing or slightly confusing just double check with him/her to see what they want for sure.

Watch for school zones, and CONSTRUCTION ZONES. Construction zones were the bane for a lot of my friends in both bikes and cars.

Dont do anything illegal or unsafe even if the examiner tells you. For me the examiner must have not been paying attention and wanted me to turn right too late. If i wanted to make the maneuver properly according to ICBC it would be hella unsafe. I just breezed by it and told him he has to tell me earlier and it was all okay.

I passed first time, he said he could fail me because I didnt shoulder check enough between interlane changes, but he could tell I could ride so he let me off. so SHOULDER CHECK SHOULDER CHECK SHOULDER CHECK. You may not be as lucky as I am.

and to add to it:

make sure they are aware of your observation skills, and make it visible. Don't do half shoulder checks, and mind the deep shoulder checks for bicycles. Take your time, relax, ride according to your training. You should pass. All in all, don't put too much pressure on yourself and try your best.
