I feel bad for teachers/TA/prof right now due to the amount of AI cheating to write essays and using smartphone/smartwatches/airpods to cheat as well.

When I was at UBC the rich china kids just hired people to write their exams/essay

Students also have to deal with teachers/prof accusing them of using AI

i charged this one china kid, like 20k to do an entire semester of enGRISH 12 (distant ed of course) got him a A- and boom, ticket to college

just bang the TA

:troll: :okay:

Hondaracer 01-07-2025 07:42 PM

Well the fact that AI can write all these papers and do people’s exams etc. doesn’t that kinda say these classes, degrees, etc. are becoming increasingly irrelevant?

Interviews are likely to become longer and more scrutinized but what value does an education provide if AI can write all the answers for you

I had a friend take a telephone interview, put the interviewer on speaker phone, and use a program (I think ChatGPT) to listen to & provide answers for him. He just read them lol.

I thought about getting this sticker/magnet when my wife was picking up other asian themed magnet/stickers from the same artist.

Call me woke, but it was edging too close to abusive relationship themes for me. Either that or it's the unresolved trauma from poor school results when I was younger.

stupid me lending a paper to a friend (for free) who was ESL to see how to write a proper paper where he swore he won't submit it as his own the following year... once i gave him a copy to read, he lied and went on and submitting it as his own... fucker had the same TA marking it and got a better grade than me the following year :rukidding:

not sure which hurt more, the fact the TA thought he wrote it and gave him a better grade (i even had the TA review prior to improve my grade and it actually got worse lol) or the fact that i'm pretty sure my classmate premeditated lying to me just to get a copy of my work, knowing that's the only way i'd give it to him.

Recruitment is part of my work portfolio and even during the height of the pandemic we stuck to our guns and did everything in person, skills testing and interviews. I need to look you in the eye and see how you carry yourself in person none of this virtual nonsense.

I came in for real estate drama, and left with school work drama... WOOT

GLOW 01-08-2025 09:54 AM

wonder how useful AI would be answering STAR (situation, task, action, result) format questions.
if they use AI to answer STAR, then i asasume they're just flat out lying about their experience, which is a different matter entirely.

At least the top students are still solid, though the extremes are getting more polarizing.

I have a friend who is a prof at Langara, VCC and UBC. The amount of poor quality students is astonishing. Granted, most of his students are on visas and from India. He says it really just sucks for those in the demographic who really are working hard and trying to make a difference in their lives - bogged down and lumped together with all the other low quality individuals. It's a race to do as little as possible to stay in Canada.

-back to real estate discussion.

Concord Pacific is submitting an application to Vancouver City Council to further develop False Creek.

5000 new homes.

-from the article:

“This initiative aligns with the City’s proactive approach to addressing housing challenges under City Council, the new Planning Director, and the Planning Department. We look forward to this collaboration,” it added.

While creating thousands of more homes, the proposal also includes “European-inspired” indoor-outdoor spaces and pedestrian-friendly areas with cafes and restaurants. Green spaces, a three-kilometre seawall, and a neighbourhood art program are also featured in the design.

it was a good run for those condos with unobstructed views of the creek next to those lands Kappa :troll:

Hondaracer 01-08-2025 12:43 PM

While I agree with adding units, if we’ve learned anything from CoV from all this rezoning and the broadway subway project/plan is that basically what you assume is safe whether it be business, sight lines, neighborhood planning, could be changed on a dime with zero consultation. Ultimately lowering the value of your property or even putting your business out of business.

I’d be pretty fucking choked if I was one of those buildings to the north that looked back into false creek

6793026 01-08-2025 12:47 PM

^ i'm assuming it'll take 15 years for that to come to fruition....

Hondaracer 01-08-2025 12:51 PM

Doesn’t really change anything, those units will lose the value of the lost view based on the proposal

JDMDreams 01-08-2025 01:05 PM

^^ what you bought with the assumption that the parking lot will cir du so let for the next 100 years?

badgerx3 01-08-2025 01:08 PM

Concord has owned that parcel of land for ages. Surprised it took them this long to do something with it.

Any existing owner concerned with their view should've done their due diligence, did they expect that piece of land to remain vacant? One of the last prime undeveloped land in that area.

yray 01-08-2025 02:40 PM

I thought they can't build in that stretch?

Hondaracer 01-08-2025 02:54 PM

They are going to tear down the viaducts to do it

JDMDreams 01-08-2025 04:03 PM

^ they probably won't do it, in before someone cries about hobos having nowhere to stay if we tear down the bridge, + cost overruns, cov going broke
