Burquitlam is actually amazing, no gridlock from a bridge and accessible by multiple roads. Shopping is convenient and multiple places to walk to.

i moved from burquitlam to guildford/fleetwood, and burquitlam was a lot worse for groceries imo.

you have loblaw owned chains and then you have hmart/hannam and that's about it. north surrey at least has lots of small to medium sized mom and pops ethnic grocers like henlong, fruiticana, lucky, etc... you do have to drive but never more than 5 minutes to half a dozen good stores.

whitev70r 04-28-2025 09:49 PM

isn't there a new Save on, North road? Walmart at Lougheed Mall?

RevYouUp 04-28-2025 09:54 PM

Yea, there’s a Price Smart now and Walmart at Lougheed and Costco is close by.

You are correct. A small neighbourhood in Coquitlam isn't worse than the second largest city in BC.

Also, with 2 plazas set to be demolished and rebuilt, it'll be interesting to see what happens with these massive plans they had like 5 years ago and how much will manifest with their same intentions in 2025 in this economy.

Also also, Burquitlam can bottleneck in spots and North Road is one of the worst roads in the entire city.

If you're down for nutlicking corporate grocery stores, go nuts but there isn't much here that screams identity unless you want to be groped.

I bet most people move here because the skytrain station is right in the middle.

Burquitlam:

The noise made as you're hungover and have diarrhea and you just manage to sit down as the torrent of shit comes out of your ass mid-air, making the distinct "Burquitlam" noise as your ass hits the seat just in time.

burquitlam/cottonwood was the hood of west coquitlam like whalley in surrey

I lived at 533 Cottonwood Ave for several years so I'm pretty familiar with that. Of course that building is gone now and replaced by a massive tower called Jinju (nuffin).

I'll never forget this one time I was getting ready to shower and I heard running and clicking down the hallway. Suddenly the running stops at my door and I hear rabid door knob turning. At first I assumed this person would stop once they realized it was locked but they were really adamant in their effort.

Anyway, I'm just standing there with only a towel on, slowly making my way backwards to my kitchen drawer. I did grab my knife and bracing myself to use it at any moment because their intent to open the door felt like kicking was inevitable. Eventually it stopped and the person ran down the hallway. I still stood there, thinking they might come back.

My only fear at that moment wasn't that I was naked, holding a knife but that in a potential scuffle, I might circumsice myself...again

Anyone remember the Denny's that was just south of Lougheed highway near the mall?

That Denny's (20ish years ago) had the hottest chicks working there. It was like the hooters of Denny's, or, before Cactus Club, it was the Cactus Denny's, because all of the waitresses were so fucking hot.

can you say what about the minutes made this a no? Was it the typical, old condo with lots of repair coming and big levy fees?

My condo is kitty corner on this street - General Currie, St. Albans, Jones Road area of Richmond is a really good place to live. Close by transit, 1980s built apartment. Yes it's old but it's also really good layout. It's low rise with 3 -5 floors and man it was huge to get in suite laundry back and 2 bathrooms.

The particular until at jones road is a bit tough because it was designed weird and isn't exactly the best lay out. It does make it look really nice with all the reno.

Are you sure that wasn't just somebody's puppy? Especially the clicking part lol. All this just reminded me of my BIL's dog.

I was 18-19 when I lived in a basement suite with a roommate near there, and at the time, there were a ton of cute chicks around everywhere... but that Denny's had some legit stunners.

Coquitlam had such a high concentration of total hotties growing up, for sure! :bigthumb:

I can already imagine the curry, BO and incense smell in each room.

GLOW 04-30-2025 08:21 AM

1st thought looking like the outside was that it looked like an apartment or something... then after looking at the inside of those rooms especially the throne & sphinx table... it looks like one of those 'theme rooms' :ifyouknow:

Free self parking: driveway
Outdoor play area: basketball hoop on the driveway
Reception: foyer/entrance
Economy room: basic bedroom
Honeymoon suite, romantic suite, etc.: fancier bedrooms with gaudy decorations
Family suite: bunch of beds shoved in a room
Property amenity: laundry room
Business centre: theatre room

:lol

Here's the floor plan from the listing in April 2021 when it sold for $3M.
