Are you guys not worried at all about the Indian land claim thing, apparently it's happening all over Canada now, and the whole of Kamloops is in a claim.

Badhobz 12-02-2025 01:16 PM

well what are we gonna do? go burn down their totem poles and lodges?

This is a self-inflicted problem. If we just kept the institutionized racism that's been going on since 1867 and told these people to go pound salmon, nothing would have happened. The problem is we give them a few inches, and now they've taken a few miles. The floodgates are open.

68style 12-02-2025 01:40 PM

Just that one stupid judge that looks like the second coming of a woke Karen basically threw the whole thing back at the government like "Hey, you've been sloughing this off for 10 years government, so here, they get all their land back, have fun sorting this shit out" and peaced.

It's going to get all taken back on appeal, but take forever and a lot of people are absolutely FUCKED in the meantime.

JDMDreams 12-02-2025 02:31 PM

Well are you still gonna pay your mortgage and property tax if your place is now worth $0 and Mr totem pole owns it now. This is huge, what's stopping anyone from claiming Aberdeen, Oakridge as theirs. Property price collapse?

westopher 12-02-2025 04:05 PM

I mean if it's their land now they can pay the taxes.

GLOW 12-02-2025 05:16 PM

not worried (yet) just surprised how it's playing out (though I suppose I shouldn't be)
i'll be taking a wait and see approach & hope we didn't all just become freemen of the land within our homes

Hahahaha like these people pay any taxes…. They are the least taxed group in Canada. Not counting scam corporations like …. Research in motion …. And “air Canada” who’s ever heard of these things

bcrdukes 12-02-2025 06:39 PM

I still remember our tenant offering me to help buy appliances because he gets it tax free as a native. I was like, wow, nice guy.

VPD came looking for him months later. :inout:

That really is an unbearable amount of light. Feels like a mall.

unit 12-05-2025 12:59 PM

make lamps great again

Gumby 12-05-2025 01:07 PM

The inside looks ok (minus the crazy amount of recessed lights), but the exterior is pretty fugly for a “custom built modern luxury home” that’s only 6 years old…

GS8 12-05-2025 03:31 PM

$3 Million for that?

I hope it comes with a free Bulldozer.

JDMDreams 12-05-2025 03:59 PM

I'm weary of buying property now since anything can just turn into native casino, this is worse than forest fires

Put the listing in https://realtylensai.com/

Deal score 65/100

pros

Modern luxury home, custom-built with high-quality Italian materials.
Excellent location in Marpole, with high walk, bike, and transit scores.
Good school catchment (David Lloyd George Elementary & Sir Winston Churchill Secondary).
Relatively new construction (2019), implying lower immediate maintenance needs.
Convenient access to YVR Airport, Downtown, and UBC.

Risks

High listing price relative to neighborhood averages.
Significantly negative cash flow for rental investment, not ideal for immediate positive yield.
Prior price reduction indicates some market resistance at original pricing.
Limited direct comparable sales data found for similar luxury properties in immediate vicinity (due to search limitations).

Keep your API key secure

Treat your Gemini API key like a password. If compromised, others can use your project's quota, incur charges (if billing is enabled), and access your private data, such as files.
Critical security rules

Never commit API keys to source control. Do not check your API key into version control systems like Git.

Never expose API keys on the client-side. Do not use your API key directly in web or mobile apps in production. Keys in client-side code (including our JavaScript/TypeScript libraries and REST calls) can be extracted.

That RealtyLensai site requires you share your Gemini API key with the site, I'm guessing because they don't want to pay for the workload. No thanks. The output seems pretty lackluster anyways.

The site was made by one guy when he was looking to by a house then he posted it online. I only posted a small part of what it shows. It compares the listing to other houses sold in the area and tells how much to offer. I also tells you how much it would rent for. The rentals numbers for Nanaimo at least seem pretty accurate. What would make it next level is if you could all the properties in one area and update that list every time there is a new listing.

Getting excited.

House build almost done. Finished tiling the garage the other day, took waaaaay too long but I didn’t trust the trades to do a solid garage job. When installing the lift they dropped the cross beam and it didn’t break. I don’t think they were expecting my excitement to see it dropped 😂

It’s also in a horseshit area that’s a few houses from a super noisy street.

True, but it is a prime property for future land assembly, so there’s a lot of potential for it to go up in value.

Badhobz 12-06-2025 12:38 PM

Right but why suffer and live in that shit place waiting for a potential payout that may or may not ever happen. 3 mill you can buy a nice place in Richmond
