If anyone is on the fence for a Nespresso machine, the UMilk Orange is on for $90 after code applied.

Nespresso CA - Coffee and Espresso machines

This machine comes with a frother attached to it, not separately from what I've read.
I already have a Pixie, but still caved because of the frother alone. :(

Enter coupon caff159 at checkout.

does anyone know which one produce the hottest water? thx

GLOW 10-15-2014 07:18 PM

FYI i was at the grandview superstore just now and on their 50% off rack are tassimo, keurig pods as well as bags of coffee. the tassimo ones i saw expired early to mid 2015. i picked up 5 packs of tassimo pods regularly at $8.99 for $4.50 :victory:

the rack is in the far corner of the store by the yogurt/seafood.

If anyone is interested in buying my nearly brand new Keurig Rivo, let me know.

thumper 11-21-2014 07:41 AM

so i'm thinking of getting my dad one of these for xmas. my dad has always been a coffee drinker, but having been a blue collar worker for so long he's always doing instant stuff or something from tim horton's, although i have known him to hit starbucks when time permits.

for the coffee drinkers out there (i don't really drink coffee... gasp!), do you guys think he would enjoy what a tassimo or keurig would offer?

hud 91gt 11-21-2014 08:09 AM

I love a good cup of coffee. The only decent coffee I've seen come out of a Tassimo/Kuerig are the pack your own capsule type. But if you going into that much effort to make a cup, why not buy a real machine? If you dad drinks instant, when he might not have an issue.

Go Nespresso and don't look back. I'm currently testing out some of the other brands of capsules, and so far the house brand is way ahead despite it's price.

GLOW 11-21-2014 08:38 AM

if he's lived all his life on instant, then he should be happy with either. as hud mentioned, keurig has the option of the filter where you can add your own ground coffee which is nice. tassimo has the option of latte-type drinks which may be nice if your mom/dad fancy those as well. though keurig has been adding teas and other drinks to their line up as well

nespresso is a step up from both no doubt but i believe the pods are more pricey as well so that has to be taken in to account. keurig on avg i find are 0.60-1.00/ea where tassimo pods are on the 0.50-0.75/ea.

if he's strictly a coffee guy i'd say get a keurig single cup machine

thanks for the recommendation.

can you help me choose from the below?:

Keurig 2.0 - FREE Shipping & Easy Returns - Keurig.ca

GLOW 11-24-2014 09:29 AM

if it were me i'd get the cheapest model of the 3. the other options doesn't really impress me. like your dad, i was a basic 'instant' coffee guy myself. i ended up getting this (smallest cheapest one).
http://www.espresso-machines-and-cof...keurig-b30.jpg

i've stuck with simple machines as i'm too lazy to read manuals and won't really know the difference with all these options i'll never use :o

thumper 11-24-2014 09:42 AM

maybe i missed it but i do not see your model in the lineup anymore

i looked at the cheapest one but the reviews are not good:

100% go with Kureig but not the 2.0

Get the one with the reusable cups so you can put your own coffee grinds in there if you so please.

Massive recall of Keurig coffee makers
Health Canada has issued a recall for thousands of Keurig Mini-plus coffee makers because there is a risk they could cause burns.

The health agency says the single-serve coffee makers were sold between December 2009 and July 2014.

More than 563,892 of the recalled models were sold in Canada and approximately 5,997,173 were sold in the U.S., Health Canada says.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has also issued a recall.

The recall says the water can overheat, spray out and cause burns.

Keurig has received 25 reports of liquid spraying from the machine in Canada, causing 17 minor burns. There have been no reported serious injuries, the recall says.

Customers should contact Keurig for a free repair kit and for steps to avoid injury while waiting for the kit.

Costco usually has a good deal on the machines... I bought Tassimo T65 on sale for under $130ish and came with 60 or 80 TDisc... pretty good deal, few years back..

DC2aDDicT 12-23-2014 03:36 PM

Fyi the keurig 2.0 will only take specific K Cups. It will not let you use any other KCup.

FerrariEnzo 12-23-2014 04:58 PM

^^
Are you sure.. Im sure they take the old style and the new 4cup big ones...

just wanted to say thanks who helped out. i went with a keurig k45 elite for my dad's xmas gift and now i'm the favorite child until i do something to screw that up (won't be long now :lol )

again, because i'm not really a coffee drinker, can someone tell me again what are the best places to buy k-cups? the k45 i bought him came with medium roast van houtte(sp?) sample cups, and it was okay. is there something out there that is better? or is starbucks pretty much it?

if he just wants coffee period, cheapest is bulk costco 50 pack. iirc when i had a keurig it came out to roughly 50 cents or less each. these are the diff roast types or the variety pack.

if he wants specific flavours (i like my hazelnut flavour) then you/he will have to keep an eye when superstore has them on sale, or london drugs does a buy 2 get 1 free promo. essentially wait until they go on sale and then stock up.

Register that puppy and get cups at or near half price! I think it's a one time offer that should be in with your paperwork (warranty papers). Free shipping, too.

When I first got mine, I thought I ordered enough to last a while. Nope.......

Take advantage of the offer if it is still in the boxes. I've bought three machines and didn't know about the offer for first time owners until I actually read the included instructions and paperwork, LOL.
