use it all the time, when I'm on the ps4

works great for the treadmill/recumbent bike, as those are pretty loud when they're running and I cant crank the audio on the home theatre in the middle of the night/early am

I didn't know that either, but I currently play my PS3 more than my 4 so I'm a bit of an odd case :lol

If you also have a headset/mic combo with separate plugs for each, you can purchase something like this to get it working on your ps4 controller.

GLOW 01-22-2016 07:49 AM

too bad the 3.5mm jack isn't compatible with use on PS3. I believe only basic features work on PS3, no 6-axis, vibration, ps button...

Anyone know any good RPG online co-op games for PS4? I already got D3 for it.. Looking for another game similar to that, so I can play with friends online. Any suggestions?

Robot Check

i have a ps3 wireless headset that i've been using with my ps4 since i bought it. its part of the reason that i didnt even know the 3.5mm jack in the controller could be used for all audio.

Are there any downsides to buying games through the PS Store vs buying a disc? Aside from the obvious lack of a hard copy of the game?

ForbiddenX 06-14-2016 10:19 AM

For me it's running out of space on my HDD, deleting games then having to redownload. Some games are huge and take forever to download depending on your speed and could also push you over your cap if you have one.

GLOW 06-14-2016 10:23 AM

hardcopy you have the option to trade in and re-sell

i'm not sure if this is applicable but some content can be removed from the PSN store i believe MvC ultimate for vita was removed so if you no longer have it installed *poof* asaik

and +1 on HD space

Upside: No need to change disc, do not need to go to the brick and mortar store, no disc to spin means less noise and less wear on the mechanical bits, better cooling on the ps4 from lack of laser, and mechanical motors whirring (short lived since most games read the disc once and runs primarily off HDD). No extra real estate required to store physical format. Has some arguably valuable DLC you might want (theme packs, skins, weapons etc.), no dust collecting on games you no longer play and can't resell (only ever ran into these issues with online only game play and sports games, aka fuck you Destiny/titanfall etc.).

Downside: You can never resell a digital game without giving up your account (DRM). If for any reason PSN is down, you cannot redownload the game until it is back up. Requiring to download massive files each time you want to redownload a game. Not that you can return an opened game, but at least you can recoup some money in case you bought a shitty game. Personally, I didn't like MKX, bought it brand new from someone on CL, sold the next day for the same price I paid. Games can be had for much cheaper if you are willing to hunt for it. I remember when fallout 4 came out and it was 80 bucks. Someone sold me a copy for 65 bucks a few days after it came out.

If I had to choose between physical and digital, physical copy wins every single time. If I own the game, I own it for as long as I keep it. If I download it, I'm "renting it" for life at the whim of the digital distributor being online.

Jmac 06-15-2016 05:29 PM

I went digital after my last 2 PS3s had Blu-ray drives die on them. Not having to walk across the living room to change discs is also awesome.

Mr.Money 06-16-2016 05:33 AM

^^^ what shitty luck....ps3 fat still going strong with heavy use and slim ps3 doing okay too..

Gucci Mane 06-16-2016 12:00 PM

same here. have an 80gb ps3 i bought when they first came out, still runs mint.

GLOW 06-16-2016 12:14 PM

my fat 80gb is almost out of HD space though can't buy any PSN games unless retro

MarkyMark 08-22-2016 09:36 AM

PS+ is going up by $20 in Canada starting September 22nd. Honestly for the PS4 it's barely been worth it at $50 dollars they better offer some better free games or they can kiss my ass.

6o4__boi 08-22-2016 09:40 AM

holy fuck...$20?!?!?!

yeah...totally not worth it

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....i should've bought $50 ps cards when they were still available online at best buy and used that to get plus
they've got $20 off $100 using visa checkout right now and they were still available last week

hindsight is a bitch

GLOW 08-22-2016 09:56 AM

they do offer free games every month for ps+ members but i don't see benefit of the service. i'm still on vita/ps3 so i don't need to use it. but ps4 owners need it for online right?

MarkyMark 08-22-2016 10:00 AM

Yeah you need it for online. The price went up by $10 in America but I guess our shit dollar finally caught up to the subscription.

I've downloaded a few of the free games but I'm not sure if it's been $70 worth over a year. I don't really game online either so I'm finding it hard to justify now.

6o4__boi 08-22-2016 10:19 AM

lol if or when Amazon has it for sale, i'm totally gonna stock up

i remember 3 or so years ago they had it for sale for $29.99...I bought a couple and that had me good
i haven't renewed after cus most of the free games were shit

TOPEC 08-22-2016 10:26 AM

Yeh I stocked up a few when they had that blackfriday sale for 29.99 if u play a lot online then yes it's worth it. If u don't play online then no point to the plus membership.

Gucci Mane 08-22-2016 11:27 AM

fucking hell, $70/year... guess its time to switch over to PC gaming. i hope xbox at least stays at $50/yr.

Mr.Money 08-22-2016 08:33 PM

Sony Will Reveal a Thinner, Cheaper Playstation 4 Next Month: Report

Slim looks nice...

PuYang 08-22-2016 11:16 PM

Not gonna resubscribe either. Haven't touched PS4 for gaming since Division was a huge letdown.

Have only downloaded ONE free game so far, and the game was worth like 10 bucks without PS+.

Kinda bummed, because I wanted to play TitanFall 2 when it comes out... sigh

ForbiddenX 08-23-2016 05:18 AM

Damn my PS4 will probably just become my single player exclusives machine...

For those that want to stock up though: PlayStation Plus 12 month membership - Electronic Code
