Honestly, if Sony puts group/party chat in for online players, I'm in. I'm already a fan of the PS3 over the Xbox, and that was always the one thing that was missing.

Either way, still gonna wait on the price before I make a final decision.

So what, we should be expecting games on the PS4 and Xbox 720 to look like today's cut scenes and pre rendered animations or whatever you call them ?

gameplay actually looking something like this ?

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood E3 Trailer [North America] - YouTube

what is holding back consols and pc's from gameplay like that (pre-rendered cut scenes)?

why can't a top of the line intel chip w/ SSD w/ dual titans produce that? or is it that games arent made/coded that big?

as for consoles, is it heat/size/price?

Heat, size, price, processing power, broadband connection, will require multiple DVDs or Blu-ray will need to be the standard, for PCs, OSX and XBOX.

If it's anything like last time, the XBox will be cheaper but they'll kill you with add-ons. Hopefully they at least plan ahead enough to keep up with Sony (ie DVD vs BR, HDD vs memory card, etc)

processing power with regards to a high end PC? by the cpu or gpu?

it is 2013 - if we are still 5-6 years away from 4k-ish games, how far are we away from cut scene-like rendered gameplay, let alone near real life gameplay? 2020 at the earliest?

i just don't get how the higest end cpu's and sli'ing 3 690s cant handle something cut-scene rendered-like, let alone what cpu/gpu's will be like 5 years from now..

I might actually consider buying this one eh.

StylinRed 02-25-2013 09:03 PM

apparently all PS4 games will be downloadable

Every PlayStation 4 game will be available to download, subscription service a possibility | The Verge

SkinnyPupp 02-25-2013 09:25 PM

If it's the same price, do not want

With Steam, when I buy a game, I know I will be able to play it forever, no matter what computer I'm on. In fact, the games will look and play better and better, as I upgrade the hardware.

If you bought a bunch of PS3 games digitally, they are useless without a PS3.

makes sense considering they allow to you start playing while the game is still downloading

obviously 20-40GB+ a game is not ideally for someone with internet cap which is pretty much everyone outside of Asia/Eruope

they probably allow people with retail disc to have the option to do a full install too for the lazies that are don't want to switch discs in between media

SkinnyPupp 02-26-2013 01:30 AM

BTW as far as all the stuff they announced that use Gaikai... I'll believe it when I see it. :suspicious:

knight604 02-26-2013 03:36 AM

@nabs, I'm with you on that one.

StylinRed 02-26-2013 04:52 PM

Im not a fan of downloading games, i like the idea that it saves some space but i can't even find my ps3 game collection most of the time so its not much of a concern

I hate steam since there is more than 1 gamer and computer in my house and even though we want to play different games we can't because steam isn't cool with that -_-

it'll also make bringing a game over to a friends house to play or even lending it to them impossible; which is something i imagine we've all done since we were little kids and if its like the ps3 where i can login onto another ps3 and download the game to it that'll just take forever to start playing

Think of it as the difference between one of those shitty Space-Channel knock-off movies and a real moneymaking blockbuster. The amount of time that it takes to develop models that detailed is astonishing--then remember that they all have to interact with each other in realistic ways.

I remember playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and watching the way that they did the combat animations to make them actually look realistic and lifelike and was fucking flabbergasted. It must have taken months and months of not just motion cap, but also planning and programming just to do seamless attack/struck/counter animations. Now remember that at most you had...what, 10 characters? And they were all focused on you.

Now imagine trying to program spontaneous characters in large crowds of 50+ that are all supposed to do their own thing but react to each other and to the environment. Games like that take too long to develop with existing game-development cycles. If you spent the time it takes to do that kind of planning and programming, by the time your game came out it'd be 3 years behind on the technology curve, most likely.

Teaser and reveal date announced since Xbox will be revealing theirs tomorrow?

TOPEC 05-20-2013 10:02 PM

june 10th release?! that soon?

Graeme S 05-20-2013 10:05 PM

Release of the picture of what it'll actually fucking look like, instead of continuing to give use these seizure-inducing "sneak preview" videos which tell us even more fuck all.
