Meh.

The redesign doesn't feel harmonious overall and looks pretty generic to me. The calendar also looks exactly like an app I've seen in the App Store.

LiquidTurbo 06-12-2013 12:32 AM

The way to kill apps reminds me of WebOS..

WebOS was actually pretty good. Sad it got killed off.. had potential!

I notice there are quite a few bugs or missing features in this build already. Some of which are expected.

- Camera app crashes randomly
- No option to download all songs with one click in iTunes Match
- Huge Performance issues, overall responsiveness, app store, music app, everything just lags.
- Chinese handwriting is actually worst than before
- a lot of apps currently have compatibility issues (i.e. wechat not allowing pictures to be chosen, bejewelled blitz fail to launch etc)
- Can not swipe to delete in email app

Like someone mentioned already, you don't need to give your device access. You just need the .ipsw file for your specific phone and just force iTunes to update it.

It seems that some of the apps just took forever to boot the first time around, because there were new permissions - but it seems better after.

I like some of the transistions - with the folders and apps, etc - but they're way too slow.

^ where can I find the ispw? I downloaded one, and it doesn't work :(

I have the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 ipsw files. If you guys need them, pm me and let me know - I'll dropbox a link for guys. My coworker isn't in today, so I don't know if I can grab any other ones.

I got them through the Apple Developer site - my buddy downloaded it through his account.

I'm aware of that method. I'm really more interested in who's a developer (as I also develop for iOS). They will usually have a different perspective on things. For me the new API's are a bigger deal (compared to the UI) as this is what's going to allow developers to create better Apps. I mentioned two above (gaming and audio), but there's a lot more.

Well this came out of nowhere. Just one day after Blackberry announced their MDM for iOS and Android, Apple puts a page up giving details about their new enterprise features.

iOS 7 For Business

Not good for BB, who always had an edge in this area. And even with that edge they were still losing enterprise customers to iOS. This will just make things worse for BB.

iOS7 Beta 2 was out yesterday. Fixed one big bug that I had found before - where if you go to the recent calls list - tapping a number on that list would automatically call them back, as opposed to opening up that number with extra options such as messaging back, adding to contacts, etc.

Mine now has the new side status bar. :)

Anyone else want to run some benchmarks on an iPhone 5 for comparison? I did the browser/Java ones first and was quite surprised (iOS 6 results are in brackets). This is on Beta 2.

Mozilla Kraken: 13,960 (20,630) lower is better
Sunspider 1.0: 730ms (845) lower is better
Browsermark 2.0: 2760 (2614) higher is better
Google Octane V1: 2820 (1728) higher is better

I ran Kraken first and thought it was a mistake since the results improved so much. But after running all benchmarks three times these results are consistent. Looks like some significant performance gains in Safari.

Tried running GFXBench but it crashed/won't load properly.

its nice... I like it.. slick...laggy on ipad 3 but fine on iphone 5.

yah but dont like the design as the old ios 5.1 lol...
Just missed the old setup.

Reason why I never updated my dad's ipad2 ios lol...

.Renn.Sport 06-30-2013 12:09 AM

I downgraded all my devices back to iOS 6 after trying iOS7 beta... Just too much incompatibility at the moment. and really not a fan of how it looks after using it more.
I'll re-consider playing with it when final release is out. But for now, only the testing devices will be running beta iOS7.

Acura604 07-02-2013 12:45 PM

anyone got the 'call blocker' to work? I blocked my work and home numbers...and then tried calling to iphone and they still get through. blocked from call history as well as contacts list..but no dice.

EDIT: it works.. looks like it needs a min or 2 to kick in before fully blocking the numbers.

Acura604 07-08-2013 09:47 AM

ios7 beta 3 is out.. u can do update OTA via settings/software update.

Acura604 07-29-2013 09:23 AM

after a 1 week hiatus, ios 7 beta 4 is NOW available OTA or download.

DanHibiki 07-29-2013 12:46 PM

Debating or not if I should update to beta 4 or just wait for the final release

is anyone having the issue of not being able to run the web inspector properly for your iphone/simulator once upgrading to ios7 sdk?

Acura604 09-18-2013 11:03 AM

OK..so who's updated so far?!

apparently the BETA GOLD MASTER is identical to the PUBLIC RELEASE so no need to upgrade....and therefore, there is no OTA prompt.
