My dad has complained about the same thing after he updated his 4s. He also said the display isn't as "crisp" as it was prior to the update.

I just wish there was a setting to get rid of that blurred bar at the bottom of the homescreen. I feel like it takes away alot of wallpaper real estate

i would like to know also.....so irritating

I find the new iOS 7 to run faster on my iPhone 5. The new design is a little hit or miss and looks pretty androidy to me but some of the redesigned features such as faster access to camera modes, etc. all make a lot of sense to me and I like them.

TPMarko 09-19-2013 08:56 AM

sounds like some positives and some negatives for iPhone4S users. my gf is still on iOS5, would you guys recommend her upgrading to iOS7 despite some of the noted lag issues?

!Yaminashi 09-19-2013 10:58 AM

I've read the new iPod touch 5 has the same internals as the iPhone 4s and ios7 runs slower than it did on iOS 6 for me. Its not terrible but its noticeable.

So if she values speed I'd say update to iOS 6

updated my ipad 2, probably not going to use it again, it looks like shit.

I've been trying to update my iphone4 for the past 2 hours. Was running Jailbroken 6.1.2.
I've hit the "Restore iPhone..." button 3 times now and at the end of the Software Update download, it keeps telling me I have to restore my phone before anything can continue..
Can anyone help?

asian_XL 09-19-2013 07:19 PM

^ master reset your phone first.

My friend has an iPhone 4S, upgraded to iOS7 today. We both thought it was much smoother and responsive. Give it a shot.

ok i checked with a few other people and i'm not the only one. there is DEFINITELY slight delay when going to the app switcher, going back to home screen and trying to click on another app or swipe right after, or going back a page (in any app) then clicking another link right away.

It's like there's 2 extra frames of animation added to the end of everything that requires u to wait a tad bit longer before clicking anything. Yes I know it's a small thing but my muscle memory has been used to the snappiness of iOS for the past many years that this is a big annoyance. I'm REALLY surprised not many people are talking bout this on the net. I wish there were more complaints so that apple can fix it in the next update.

!Yaminashi 09-19-2013 07:45 PM

If you're having trouble with the animations being slightly choppy try going into settings > general > accessibility > increase contrast.

Your control center and notification area as well as your folder backgrounds wont be semi-transparent anymore, but your animations will be smoother

Thanks for the reply.

Ya I gave that a shot but it didn't work.

It's not that the animation isn't smooth but more like they added a few extra still frames to the end of all the animations. So what you think is "oh, the animation is completed and safe to press something now" but nope! it's not finished even though it looks like it is!

I know what you mean and I think thats why non iphone 5s and 5c devices feel slower on the new ios. You'd think Apple would create speed optimizations for all of their supported devices.

The only positive to ios 7 to me is the prettiness factor.

My ipod definitely feels a tad slower compared to ios 6.

I really hope they release an update soon that's a little more polished and optimized for even the older devices

It's weird because everything else seems just fine. It really feels like a poorly coded software issue and not a software/hardware issue.

And isn't the 5C the exact same as the 5? Specs wise?

SkinnyPupp 09-19-2013 08:16 PM

Animations are definitely janky on the ipad 2.. it actually looks funny because sometimes some components travel faster than others. It also turns on and off with a 0.3-0.5 second lag each time which is kind of annoying.

Apps themselves seem the same though, but the already laggy app switching was just been made worse.. I guess we're supposed to upgrade our hardware as soon as they are all 64 bit! ;)

I honestly have no idea what the specs on the 5s and 5c are.
But I'm guessing Apple optimized ios 7 to be perfect on the new devices, forcing people to upgrade.

so many things to complain about fuuuuuuuuuu

^That is my biggest complaint next to the slow downs
Is there any sort of feedback page where people can make suggestions for ios 7.x directly to apple?

SkinnyPupp 09-19-2013 09:37 PM

There are a lot of really sketchy spy settings enabled by default in iOS 7.. if you upgraded you will want to go through and disable them:
