LOL, Raymond was good for shootouts at least...

[QUOTE=RevYouUp;8343530]LOL, currently, Booth has no role on this team.. He doesn't play physical, he doesn't setup plays, he doesn't score. What a useless sag of crap[/QUOTE

It makes you really wonder how Mike Gillis made the decision to trade for the piece of junk. What a waste of cap room.
-overheard one of the personal trainers at Steve Nash gym in downtown Vancouver mention to a co-worker that Booth goes to that gym for his off ice workouts.

I said to the trainer "Booth works out at this gym? I thought he just shot animals to get a workout"
The trainer laughed.

After all, Torts did call Booth "Mr. Strange" in response to a reporter's question.

there goes the cup

murd0c 10-21-2013 07:45 AM

The fact is the Canucks need a top 6 Core change plain and simple and I honestly think it has to be Kesler or maybe even more. Torts has been doing a great job so far but a coach can only do so much with the players he has been given and this has been said over and over already.

pastarocket 10-21-2013 07:53 AM

C'mon MG, make a move to get a legitimate top 6 forward who actually has play making ability. -pretty frustrated with this GM

OGCStrike 10-21-2013 08:37 AM

I think mg's has already attempted to bring in a top 6forward in booth
This team is full of IFs.
IF booth is healthy and scoring, then hes a top 6
IF kassian can have more consistency in his game, hes also a top 6
IF only kesler regains his 40goal form
I can go on and on with all these IF variables

In short, this team a lot of IFs and only if all the stars align will the canucks will have contribution of scoring thru out its lineup.

murd0c 10-21-2013 09:00 AM

In this game you can't have what IF's, he's making moves but not the right ones so far. It honestly seems like no GM really wants to work with him since he started and nothing has changed at all even with more experience.

fsy82 10-21-2013 09:08 AM

I honestly don't know what the ownership group was thinking when they brought in a rookie gm with a seasoned team. We needed a guy who had experience and could pull the trigger when needed.

I agree with Murdoc our team is full of "what if" players. We need a difference maker. We need our GM to make a bold move. I honestly think its a great time to trader Kesler.

Now that's what I call a bold trading move by a GM. -do not think that MG has the balls to make this kind of move.

AzNightmare 10-21-2013 09:14 AM

MG has made "smart-calculated choices" which people always say in defense,
"it seemed like the best possible move at the time, he doesn't have a crystal ball"

I wouldn't go as far to call his choices 50/50 gambles,
but it seems he brings in a lot of washed up players who seemed good on paper,
but have no real in-game delivery. Or he just over estimates every player's development speed.

The problem with trading Kesler is that it doesn't solve our problem.
If lucky, 1 for 1, we get back an impact player.... who will have no one to play with on 2nd line.

Or MG logic, we get 2 mid draft picks and a 2nd round prospect.

Trade Kesler for what, a McDonald's happy meal?

pastarocket 10-21-2013 09:24 AM

Trading Kesler would be a bold move. However, it would not be the right move for the team at this time. The Canucks have no depth in their top 6 in terms of guys who can contribute offensively. We need him right now.

If Kesler is traded, watch MG get fleeced by a better GM.

Besides the drama, I didn't mind the Sundin signing.
The owner over-spent (who cares, because), it didn't cripple our cap hit for the following season.

And 8 pts in 8 games in the playoffs (where it mattered) is not bad.
:notbad:

murd0c 10-21-2013 12:24 PM

and the shootout winning goal against the Leafs was so epic and awesome!!

Tapioca 10-21-2013 12:25 PM

For all the time that Booth spends at the gym, he seems to get knocked off the puck easily which reflects poorly on his core strength. Meanwhile, Kassian spends his spare time at the Roxy and is far harder to knock off the puck. Maybe Booth should spend more time drinking Jagerbombs and Coronas?

When I open this thread I always have a feeling deep down wishing for a trade to be announced.

Not sure what assets we can trade and what we can get back for said assets. :okay:

Booth - Kassian - send two plugs to a team for a top 6 forward :lol

trancehead 10-21-2013 12:47 PM

cmon guys,
booth as a bust, okay
but its far too early to deem kassian a bust

AzNightmare 10-21-2013 02:46 PM

That's because Booth just pumps iron like a bodybuilder which doesn't necessarily benefit his game,
and in some ways, may even hinder it.

He needs to focus more practical workouts that relate to hockey.

And I don't blame people being impatient with Kassian.
He was traded 1 for 1 with Hodgson, who has much more to show for before,
now, and probably the future at the current pacing.

It also doesn't help to hear reports of Kassian slacking off.
How are fans supposed to see potential from this?

It really sucks, cause the way Kassian celebrated on that goal in the Pens game,
it really looked like he gave a shit. Except Cauncks pissed away the lead 10 seconds later.
What a way to bust his confidence and ruin his moment.
His goal wasn't even announced yet and it was tie game again.
The guy looked so sad, reminded me of Kesler when he scored 2 goals against SJS in the Playoffs,
and the team still managed to fuck it up.
