Sabres hired a GM a few months ago, Tim Murray, he was the guy behind the Ducks drafting Perry/Getzlaf and Ottawa drafting their young kids, he was the assistant GM behind his uncle Byran Murray in Anaheim and Ottawa, doing most of the legwork.

Hopefully Jim Benning or Ron Hextall will be the new Canucks GM

bad move by the canucks......i am a huge fan of linden, like really big linden fan, but he doesnt deserve the wrath of what most shitty canucks give out. Give the nucks 2 more average years and he will be burned at the stake, and inturn, ruining the image of vancouvers nostalgia boy.

The good thing with naming him President is that there is still somewhat of a buffer between him and criticisms. If the team does continue on it's downward slide Linden won't come out as scathed as the GM would be.

I think it's a great move as the Canucks needed a new face since Gillis fucked everything up. Remember hes just the president and not the GM

Scouting eh? I really hope Linden hires new scouting staff. No more Ron Delorme please.

If the team gets new scouting staff that are close in calibre to Detroit's scouts, this franchise's future would get much brighter.

Nicholson for GM hopefully IMO

If Linden is just a figure head in an attempt to sell season tickets than this is going to be a huge mistake.

If Linden cleans the scouting department and a new group of scouting staff drafts well, Linden's reputation in Vancouver will still be loved.

lets be realistic....60% of fans dont even know the difference between a GM and President....most think the president is Aquillini....thats being realistic. so when shit goes down, they will be calling for the head of the most famous person they know in the management of the organization....

Linden has a better chance at maintaining his adoration by being the worst mayor of vancouver, than being an average president of the canucks..
