Id rather have a perpetually good and exciting team to follow than one lucky cup in a lifetime of disappointment and mediocrity.

"Years ago my team was the best team once or twice" is a boring story and no one likes listening to Edmonton fans talk about the 80s.

How many New York Islander fans care about the 80s when the teams been to the playoffs 5 times in the last 20 years and has been a bottom feeder forever since?

Hondaracer 04-13-2014 09:42 AM

That's basically asking (in terms of the last decade) would you rather cheer for San Jose or Vancouver

That's where I disagree. I'd rather see my team get to the top of the mountain once, than see them get there halfway every year.

You don't get credit for "almost" doing something.

RRxtar 04-13-2014 10:18 AM

Having a chance to win the cup every year, and watching the team play hard fighting to get there, is a lot more interesting to watch than knowing they won't, and knowing they know they won't.

Its not about "credit", you can have your bragging rights from decades ago. I want to watch good hockey every night.

Is fucking a playboy playmate once, 15 years ago, and being stuck with ditch pigs ever since, better than pulling 8s and 9s for your lifetime?

If you're not fucking the 8's and 9's, then yes. Which is basically the same thing as winning the Stanley Cup once, and never getting there again vs. Getting there all the time but never winning.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love watch my team play exciting hockey every night, which for the past two seasons they finally have. Before that, Anaheim was in the midst of rebuilding. Having a competitive hockey team every year takes quite a bit to have...Scouting, drafting, player development, FA signings, coaching etc etc.

The Philly Carolina game just started...?
It doesn't matter who wins that game, as long as the nucks lose in regulation tonight, they'll get 6th.

Ch28 04-13-2014 11:10 AM

Oh Fuck! Looked at the score from the other night. Damn android phone haha

As long as we don't do any better than Carolina in this last game, then we should be sixth from the bottom. They have more regulation / OT wins than us.

Didnt think I would see the day Carolina does better than the Canucks.

Hondaracer 04-13-2014 11:39 AM

If only the Canucks lost to the Kings last saturday we would be potentially picking 4th overall :lol

All 14 teams not in the playoffs have a shot at winning the lottery.

The likelihood of each team gaining the right to the first pick is:
30th place: 25.0%
29th place: 18.8%
28th place: 14.2%
27th place: 10.7%
26th place: 8.1%
25th place: 6.2%
24th place: 4.7%
23th place: 3.6%
22th place: 2.7%
21th place: 2.1%
20th place: 1.5%
19th place: 1.1%
18th place: 0.8%
17th place: 0.5%

No team can move down more than one position as a result of the lottery.

More like going to Playboy parties for 10 years and never getting laid by any of them, versus going to the parties only a couple of times but manage to score.

bobbinka 04-13-2014 01:56 PM

carolina wins!

tonyzoomzoom 04-13-2014 02:17 PM

Good. Now it doesn't matter we do, we'll be sixth from the bottom. LOL

Mike Oxbig 04-13-2014 03:53 PM

Yup... coulda been 4th if we lost to the kings last week.

moldex 04-13-2014 04:04 PM

If we win we have the same record as Carolina bit we have the tie break over them so we'd get the lower pick.
