scENFORCER 10-02-2014 12:38 AM

Might pop by depending how much work I get done. I'm set to pick up a 4x4 this weekend for the winter so this might be the last chance I get to come out till next summer. Thanks for hosting though ts14!

BoostedBB6 10-20-2014 07:19 AM

And the kids are trying to set up another Thursday meet again. This time in another public lot, "forcing" people to pay to park there and they have "security".......JUST LET IT DIE

cho 10-20-2014 10:48 AM

they don't have security, the guy knows people apparently

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't mandatory donations illegal in a public lot?

I think he means like paying for a parking ticket at an impark lot. So its like you are "forced" to buy in order to park your car there, or risk getting ticketed. Or just stand around your car until the patrol walks around and drive away before they ticket you. :troll:

Inaii 10-20-2014 11:51 AM

This guy is trying to force people to donate to children's hospital (let me be clear about this, I have no problem donating. However I will only do so to the charity itself, or a company that has worked with the charity for years. Ex. RS Cares and the Food Bank) in order to park in the walmart lot at Lougheed Mall. Impark is different, it's technically a private lot that is "rented" out to the public.

BoostedBB6 10-20-2014 11:55 AM

Yes, it is illegal and told him if he or anyone else attempts to force me to pay I will kindly escort them to the adjacent police station for due processing.
They want to hold a meet, have no insurance, want to force payment to participate.....don't think they understand how things work.

It's not a pay parking lot, he wants you to give him money to park there and he will donate it to the charity he chooses....but not going to give receipts because "it's only $2"

Inaii 10-20-2014 11:57 AM

Also I'm pretty sure one call to the mall would have it shut down, regardless of who he "knows".

I thought only $20+ were required to have a receipt because anything less than that didn't count toward your taxes? Good to know!

BoostedBB6 10-20-2014 12:07 PM

Any donation of any size you can get a receipt for (if requested). Above $20 and its must be given, below that it is required if requested.
When asked about this the reply is "it's only $2, you spend more on coffee or gas to get there"

Inaii 10-20-2014 12:10 PM

Ohhh, okay gotcha. I've had a couple places tell me they don't give receipts for anything under $20 so I thought that was the norm. Thanks for the info though :)

TOS'd 10-20-2014 12:11 PM

My mistake then. STFU bcrdukes.

PandaDog 10-20-2014 12:49 PM

A meet in the walmart/lougheed mall lots :heckno:

Are these guys not aware of the number of speedbumps in the area?

And there is security monitoring the lot, I've seen them taking strolls around.

Tone Loc 10-20-2014 01:08 PM

People just need to let these meets die. We had them, turnout was great, people were generally being safe/not stupid, then certain groups of people who may or may not be characterized by their ethnicity and/or Surrey residence fucked it up for everybody.

Yet people blame the Police, who are there to protect the public well-being. IMHO if I were a cop I'd do the exact same thing and push to get these things shut down. All it takes is for one person to get hit by a car, a few fights, maybe even a crash and then the sensationalist media firestorm will ruin everyone, tuners, police, bystanders, etc. People be doing burnouts, rev-bombs, and generally hooning around a public parking lot filled with people, most of whom are women/children/business customers... what the hell did you expect?

Welcome to Vancouver, where good things never last

BoostedBB6 10-20-2014 01:14 PM

It's just a bunch of Surrey kids and uninformed "car enthusiasts" trying to salvage something they think is dead however they don't seem to realize that this is the time of year many people stop going to meets due to weather.....let them congregate, many of these people were the ones causing the problems. Come spring the Thursday meet will start up again.

Inaii 10-20-2014 04:09 PM

But boosted, we're clearly just afraid of the weather and we're all just afraid we're going to melt in the rain

bcrdukes 10-20-2014 04:20 PM

Weather?! :seriously:

Why should anyone worry about the rain when they've got their North Face puffy jacket, 3 layers of Kappa tear-aways and my Nike Shox?!
