Gumby 06-18-2012 10:16 AM

Steveston Farmers Market? What the hell...

What next - a review of Superstore?

i-VTEC 06-18-2012 10:19 AM

While Googling the blog, I found this:

http://www.revscene.net/forums/66511...eryone-15.html

It appears that the haters all lurk on a discussion forum frequented by one of the finalists who didn’t win. Sour grapes I say. I’d ignore them.
:lol

Meowjin 06-18-2012 12:23 PM

who the fuck says sour grapes?

edit: Just read the review comments, they probably think they the comments originate here lol.

Ronin 06-18-2012 01:45 PM

LOL you guys...don't start any drama, you jerks. :lol

I mean, you can have your opinion about it but you don't have to be dicks about it.

I'm not really going to weigh in. I haven't left a comment apart from congratulating Lindsay. I'll just keep doing my own thing. I enjoy farmers market too. When you cook, fine tuning your ingredients makes the difference. Personally, I don't know if I would have enough to say about a market to make a full post.

I know that isn't my scene. I try to tailor more towards folks like myself (write what you know, write? er...right?) and since we've all been here for years, I figure we're similar in taste and interests. Maybe you guys just don't enjoy her blog because it isn't your sort of thing. Can't please everyone. I'm sure most vegetarians have a picture of me on a dartboard.

For example, I'm sure you guys enjoy something more like this....

http://www.ededition.com/blogpics/sidecut-1.jpg

(one of the many things my friends and I had on Saturday night...just finished pictures, writing up soon.)

http://www.ededition.com/blogpics/sidecut-2.jpg

...and I didn't notice until now but doesn't that look like...except that thing on the side but...down...uh...

Well, you can tell it was for a stag...

Ronin 06-18-2012 02:47 PM

I can see why they think it's me responsible, though. Of all 12 contestants, 9 are women and the other two dudes...I mean, one of them invites single women over on Valentine's Day and cooks for them. I'm not a woman and I don't swing that way but DAMMIT, that sounds f'n delightful.

While I talk about how much I'd eat penguins if tomorrow I found out penguins are delicious. EVEN THE CUTE ONES...so I'm the most likely to be an asshole. :lol

Grandmaster TSE 06-18-2012 10:40 PM

let them get mad, these people clearly don't understand free speech. if you can't take the heat then get out of the fire, there will always be criticism, its up to you on what to do with it
either learn or sit at home and cry in the corner

and if they took their time to read, they will know it wasn't ed's fault for starting anything, its just people that doesn't want a misinterpretation of Richmond's food culture. so far she has done some good, and some bad, still many days to go, but we'll have to see where she takes this blog

Yeah. And I still can't believe that the night we went they were out of Prime Rib. Like, seriously, how does a steakhouse run out of prime rib?

Sidecut in Whistler. Friends and I went there and lit some money on fire.

Vansterdam 06-20-2012 02:35 AM

What is exactly the 2 dishes in those pics called? :sweetjesus:

Ronin 06-20-2012 08:36 AM

That's a long bone ribeye (smaller one, 36oz) and a cowboy porterhouse (52oz)

Ribeye is $225 with two sides, two appies and a bottle of wine. Porterhouse is the same except 4x each thing and a bottle of wine for $325.

Obsideon 06-21-2012 03:20 PM

I've been CRAVING to go back to that place ever since I had it last summer up at Whistler! ... just haven't found a good reason to drive all the up to Whistler to have dinner and maybe even stay overnight since I'll have meat coma after that ... heh...

You go with Gary? He recognized Sidecut pretty quick on FB.

I wanted to meat coma after the meal...but we had things to do after. Quick nap, then club. I could've totally just vegged out for the rest of the day.

Obsideon 06-21-2012 07:50 PM

Yeah I went with him LOL ... I almost ate the entire Longbone by myself and then passed the hell out haha ... I can't imagine driving 2 hours back to Vancouver right after that meal!

Ronin 06-21-2012 07:57 PM

I was a bit sick from drinking the night before so I wasn't as hungry as I could've been. I took home about 6 oz of steak and some veggies Heated it up the next morning in the microwave...about a minute...and the steak still tasted awesome. I cut it up into chunks and people that tried it said it was still an awesome medium rare. Still juicy and tender.
