It's just a very stereotypical 'caucasian-friendly' mediocre dim sum place. It's like if you were to tout yourself as a Pho expert and the first place you blog about is Pho Hoa.

RacePace 06-07-2012 12:03 PM

To be fair, she doesn't tout herself as a dim sum expert. Though that fact is unfortunate

sonick 06-07-2012 12:07 PM

True, I was using 'pho expert' as a top-of-my-head example. But as a food enthusiast and blogger you'd expect something more original than the most ubiquitous, predictable (as Skinny has proven) restaurant in Richmond.

Tim Budong 06-07-2012 12:07 PM

SunSuiWah use to be good for Dim Sum
but I continuously buy squab from them...

thats about it

Ikkaku 06-07-2012 12:53 PM

Well, once again, this isn't catered to people who have been living here for ages.

I wonder if she will do an entry about eating at Lido, and not having english menus :lol

RacePace 06-07-2012 12:59 PM

She probably won't even touch the ones that don't have english menus or have someone eat with and order for her

Ronin 06-07-2012 01:01 PM

I wrote out my criticism...which had nothing to do with where she went or what she ordered but then I thought against it. Not giving out free advice.

I'd like to read this tbh, others probably do too. Can I PM you for it?

All you have to do is do your own review of Sun Sui Wah, say this weekend. And every once in a while immediately do a review of a restaurant that she does. You would get my personal troll of the year award

Phozy 06-07-2012 02:25 PM

^Please do Ronin..

Gumby 06-07-2012 03:07 PM

While I think it would be absolutely hilarious, I don't think Ronin wants to come across as a troll... He's classier than that!

K-Dub 06-07-2012 05:22 PM

I'm gonna bite my tongue on this. Some things are best left unsaid. LOL'd hard at Skinnypupp's quote.

Bonka 06-07-2012 06:18 PM

Overly verbose without actually saying much and little about the dishes themselves. With her background I find it odd that she doesn't know what squab is..about as odd that she has never ventured into Richmond for dim sum. I wonder if the staff even bothered to ask them for their tea preference and just gave them Jasmine :fullofwin:

I guess with her first entry it's best to keep standards low. She only has room to improve from here :seriously:

Tim Budong 06-07-2012 06:28 PM

only time will tell until she can pick out the hole in a wall that makes richmond

SpuGen 06-07-2012 06:29 PM

Can't remember exactly what I wrote.
But basically, I told her she picked a shitty restaurant, and sarcastically told her that she was doing a bang up job. Also stuff along the lines of this being sponsored.. or she's just an idiot. And that she might as well have reviewed the Mc Donalds across the street.

It's not like I used foul language or anything.

GGnoRE 06-07-2012 07:05 PM

Well, truth hurts more

Vansterdam 06-07-2012 07:06 PM

I won’t go through every last dish, because then you’d have a novel to read. But I can say I enjoyed them all, despite a few tough stalks amongst the Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce.

lol@ going to dimsum and only writing about the squab.

GGnoRE 06-07-2012 07:13 PM

Restaurant selection aside, the post itself is not very informative

Crappy pics, and a little description of what a squack and dimsum is.

Not really racist! 06-07-2012 07:16 PM

i'll give her another chance with the next one

:lawl:

yray 06-07-2012 07:21 PM

every post will be the same until she goes to lido

Razor Ramon HG 06-07-2012 07:46 PM

This is why you hire based on their actual talent, and not qualifications. Who gives a fuck if she studied food culture? The ugly cunt can't even write an informative blog post, nor does she know what a squab is. That alone is a big slap in the face to the other contestants.

first impressions are important, and that is a big no no in ANY food blog. You are there to describe what you eat, not make a smart ass comment
