Remember this post. When the blog starts, you'll see. It will be Sun Sui Wah, and she will lie about how good it is.

I would rage hardcore

Since Ed has suddenly turned into Mr. Nice Guy with these tools, my guess is he'll let them know what's up, and prevent them from embarrassing themselves

:okay:

I'm not saying to not discuss what you guys think. I just don't think it's right to talk shit about the other finalists. It isn't their fault. I just put myself in their shoes. They must be happy they made it. It's like Joel Ward scoring that game 7 OT goal. Happiest moment of his life and then he has to deal with people calling him a n*****. It's one thing to tell Tourism Richmond they made the wrong call but that's on them, not the finalists.

As for this, it's doubtful that I will be involved with their campaign at any point. I don't feel it's necessary to air what happened to the public but if you really want to know, we can talk privately but basically, if they don't want someone from Richmond representing Richmond, I'm not going to help them for free.

^well put man. though i agree with a few of the theories here as a whote guy who lives in richmond and goes regularly to hole in the wall places where im the only white guy, i was getting a bit annoyed at some of the comments in this thread as they were starting to profile. notthat i expected any less - there are a lot of racist pieces of shit in this city and its one of the reasons im looking to leave bc

Rather than sulk at these ladies not being able to bring out the best of asian cuisine. What about wrongfully representing Richmond with restaurants that offer GREAT FOOD...but CRAPTACULAR SERVICE.

Lets take for example.. 80% of Alexandra give her a rough time with service...what will that say to the outside? The Richmond food scene is like that of Asia in some aspects, dont expect much for service. Its generally accepted by the public already within asians richmond residents to not expect anything.

So the target of this is to open up to the rest of the world and not just Asian tourists that will come here no matter what, the rest of north america will just think our city is crap.

The fact of hte matter is that as a PROUD resident of Richmond, I dont want the city to be misrepresented to the outside world. This is basically a showcase to the world on what we, as Richmond has to offer and if yes, the service at certain places is going to suck. Having someone that KNOWS our city can mask and explain that in a cultural aspect to the world. A visitor might not have the same thing to say

The City of Richmond is PROUD of 3 areas in cuisine. Steveston, Alexandra(food street) and "golden village"

RacePace 05-03-2012 01:55 PM

Honestly, I don't even expect those restaurants on Alexandra to be so ignorant as to not recognize Tourism Richmond's food blogger, and not give them better than usual service

becuz most of those restaurants dont give a shit. As long as the food tastes good and the service is bearable to patrons, people will come.

Lido, Kam Do and SOMETIMES silver tower is a prime example of this

Ronin 05-03-2012 04:22 PM

Those restaurants couldn't care less if you think their service sucks. Business never slows down so zero fucks to give.

nah im aite it doesnt affect me or anything in my daily life not saying i cant take it. im just saying ppl are racist in this province and some of the comments here reflected that for me.. its not a blatant racism, its a more reserved one

regarding service, if a white person brings a chinese person to a dim sum place here, they get seated fast and served well. in other places not so much. it works both ways and both ways are racist.

Un-Liked their FB page.

Food bloggers are as annoying as people constantly posting instagram pictures of their food. Is it me or is taste relative? The only real thing they can have any objective opinion on is service, pricing and parking; the rest is subjective.

Edit: The only real opinions I care about are people who actually know how to cook. Civilians who know how to real food (not just pasta and steaks) and chefs.

Even more annoying are people who bitch and whine when they have a choice to read or ignore it. How is this any different than movie critics? newspapers/media with political leanings? political parties who espouse certain ideology? lots of things are subjective but they provide a certain viewpoint that is up to you whether to accept or reject it.

rsx 05-03-2012 07:28 PM

I do unsubscribe from them. I'm just stating my opinion on 'foodie critics'

Although, I will disagree with Bing's comment; I think political, ideology or philosophical commentary is entirely in a different tier.

drunkrussian 05-03-2012 07:30 PM

im all for amateurs posting food - thats not a money making food blog, its ur personal blog. im also for ppl who can write and blog who food blog.

what annoys me is the amateur who acts all pro...or the pro who takes himself far too seriously. the key is to enjoy it and have fun wit it - its food

Tim Budong 05-03-2012 09:32 PM

The definition of a Foodie in the past 18months has become...

I have a camera, I post pictures, I write a paragraph about food. Im a foodie

too_slow 05-04-2012 08:51 AM

^It's true... All of a sudden, everyone's a foodie/food critic

Meowjin 05-04-2012 09:33 AM

That describes most foodies out there.

I find if you know how to take pictures and write, it doesn't mean you have good taste in food.

I find all these bloggers don't know anything about good food, more like they write on cheap food.

Meowjin 05-04-2012 10:48 AM

cheap food can be good, just gotta find the super in the whole in the wall.

Tim Budong 05-04-2012 12:33 PM

"foodie"
