I believe that agreement is occupants in the car.. if the person(s) are not present in the car at the time of crossing and does not include people walking on foot..

Anyhow, I will be heading to point roberts in a few days to pickup a package.. so I guess I will just ask the guard..

MG1 10-10-2016 10:23 AM

Then the guard will flag you, lol.

vitaminG 10-10-2016 11:43 AM

they definitely say specifically not to do that on your nexus application. keep doing it and you will lose a nexus and possibly other repercussions

Probably done it 3 times in the last month and neither side has said a thing.

FerrariEnzo 10-10-2016 01:03 PM

So walking on foot is the issue???? maybe Im misunderstanding something...

Hehe 10-11-2016 03:08 AM

I dig into the topic a bit, and apparently it's a technicality thing.

Over at Flyertalk, someone reported calling the Blaine CBP and they said bringing non-nexus member in Nexus lane is a big no-no. But if the person were dropped at say the duty-free shop before the border, walks across it and go onto the car again by walking to the shops off-freeway it's ok.

The key point, however, is that the person must be carrying all his/her belongings and must not go on/off the car while still in the inspection area; hence satisfying the "not carrying good of others and non-nexus member" requirement.

All in all, I think it's a PITA to do it to satisfy the technical loophole. And nothing is worth risking Nexus privilege IMHO.

No. This is something they explain in depth during the Nexus process now. It is definitely not a technicality. This is in the rules for a reason.

If you are travelling as part of a group, you must cross as a group. Dropping people off to cross on foot and picking them up on the other side is a HUGE no-no. Regardless of if they take all their shit or not. If they catch you doing this they will absolutely make a big deal about it, you can lose your nexus, get fined, and get banned from the border.

thanks

I was personally told by a us border guard that they r OK with it..(But this was 4 years back, might have changed) but Canadian don't like it. And will take away ur nexus.

It's gotten stricter, than anything since
..So.. U can take a chance.. And lose ur nexus all together.

New Bellingham Costco will open November 19th at 8:00 AM!

I drove by there today and it looks good, as in big. Parking lot is a bit of a mess. Because of all the rain, it was flooded in some areas. I'm sure they'll figure it out. Drainage could become an issue, so they're building a stormwater facility there as well.

The new location is on West Bakerview Road across from Fred Meyer. I can see traffic being a bit of a nightmare, but it's right at the freeway on and off ramps. And, a new road is being built on the other end of the Costco property, between Northwest Drive and Pacific Hwy. Also planned are two more retail centers (US spelling on purpose here) on either side of Costco.

And yes, there will be a gas bar at the new location......... top tier, ftmfw!

Also, some bad news............ at least for fast food junkies like me. Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Lynden, Wa. is closed down forever. Found this out two weeks ago when I went to get my birthday freebie burger. Good news is, the one in Ferndale is still open. Went there today to try their beef brisket on a bun. Slow cooked to perfection. And that sauce!

I'm at the Bellingham Costco right now and half the stuff I'm looking for is gone. Gone as in moved to their new location. The grand opening of their new location is this coming Saturday. It opens at 8:00 am. I have a feeling it's gonna be jam packed. Not sure ifdeals or freebies, but not going there. I hate crowds.

tonyzoomzoom 11-17-2016 05:51 PM

where's the new Costco?

MG1 11-17-2016 07:26 PM

Right at the freeway at Bakerview. Across from Fred Meyer.

Can't see it unless you look for it. Kind of like the Cabela's in Abbotsford. Huge, but not in plain sight.

How will the new Costco impact traffic? | Bellingham Herald

At the new Costco, ATM . It's just like any other Costco, except big. Big means more space for sample carts, LOL. Now that the gas bar lights are on, it's hard to miss the place. Cell reception is way better than old place. Full bars on T Mobile network and that's inside the building.

I just tried 24/7 Parcel, and it is awesome. I like not being bound by operating hours. They email/sms you when your parcel arrives. It also includes a passcode to unlock the door, and then the same code gets used to open the locker. It's convenient, and reasonably priced @ $3 per package.

It's definitely awesome. But nowadays I know I'm heading down during 5d operating hours so I go there to save some money.

I always found that I felt like I was in some sort of video game where I have to find the code, enter it, and something opens somewhere else. I had fun finding where the sound came from.

I need to get a life haha

IMASA 11-23-2016 02:27 PM

I've been a long time 24/7 parcel user, but since I only cross with my Nexus card (US side closes at 9pm), I rarely picked up packages after 9pm.

Switched to 5D since they open til 9pm M-F and you can leave your packages there for 30 days vs only 7 days at 24/7.

I've been with them for a hella long time. They've expanded to three locations in BC and are now operating back east in Niagara.

Great people and easy peasy. I also have letter mail sent there @ $1 each....... stamp collector here, so it works well. As for the 7 day thing, it's a dollar each day you go over. If you're a regular customer, VIP (100 0r more in one year) they now have 14 day free storage. Each of their three locations is close to a Edaleen Dairy, lol. Bonus!!!!

Anyone think that borders gonna be fucked on sat?

MG1 11-23-2016 07:26 PM

You can count on it. Sunday worst day.

Gh0stRider 11-23-2016 08:50 PM

yup im a regular at 24/7 parcel. I switched over from Hagens of Blaine when they wanted a annual fee. I love 24/7.

Going down there tomorrow

krazynuck 11-23-2016 08:54 PM

Went to the new Costco today, got that nice new smell of new construction. Basically same layout as before minus the dairy cooler is in a different area. The border was quiet today but all the stores were packed...everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Picked up gas as well ($2.09 USD/Gallon for 87)
