Waldburger was actually trying to get out for most of it, and it wasn't until he stopped defending at all that Herb stopped it. As for McMann, she dropped at the speed of gravity, and had one hand on the ground and one on her liver as she took 4 unanswered shots to the head. It wasn't until Ronda was raising her arms in victory that she started getting up. People complaining about these stoppages are borderline retarded, IMO |
I didn't watch. What did rory do? Posted via RS Mobile |
Rory looked like a million bucks against a very tough opponent |
I agree, the stoppage on McMann was fine. She wouldn't have been able to recover fast enough, as Rhonda would be all over her so quick. The other fight however... Herb really drop the ball on that. Pyle was wrecking him and it felt like a simpsons moment where ralph screams "Stop, Stop! he's dead!" If Rhonda didn't come in with that strategy, McMann would have wrecked her. Her boxing in the early stages was impeccable and her weight shifting, to prevent those judo throws. |
Wow pat Cummins made 8k, DC made 160k. But when you look deeper, Ronda makes 55k to show and DC makes 80k to show. That really isn't very much when you figure how much these fighters spend on training camps. It's no wonder most top fighters usually fight to a guaranteed decision, there's so much money on the table that could be lost fighting flashy Posted via RS Mobile |
I guess we just saw the pyle/waldburger fight differently..I recall him escaping a deep choke then just got mounted for a beating.. but I guess he was still moving so all is good lol. http://mkerala.com/u/di/Z7Q1/late.gif maybe the zoom'd gif makes it 10x worse |

If you compare to boxing and when someone like Mayweather fights, he gets 30+ million while someone like GSP or Jon Jones gets a fraction of that with the same or more risk than boxers. Good for him. And an all women season of TUF should be good |
Pettis not gonna fight for 16 months? not a fan of that, but good to see Gil get his contract matched though |
can't we just all get along? :lol Arianny Celeste: I don't like the way Ronda Rousey carries herself - Bloody Elbow |
I missed the card this past weekend. So Rory beat Maia? Good for him. He needs a rematch with Condit. |
"I am coming back, Brazil" https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BhSAFShCIAAHdd1.jpg He'll be fighting GSP if GSP agrees to come back. If not, they'll probably go for Nick Diaz. If that doesn't work.. Chael again? |

This inspired me to do some number crunching UFC 167 GSP vs Hendricks Buyrate: 330K Price: $45/55 SD/HD ($50) Net Income (after 50% PPV cut): $17,325,000 Gate: $5,700,000 Total Income: $23,025,000 Total Official Fighter Salaries: $1,639,000 Average Salary: $68,292 Top paid fighter: GSP @ $400K 2nd: Rashad Evans @ $250K Average Salary Not Including Top 2 Fighters: $45,000 Boxing Bradley vs Marquez Buyrate: 375K Price: $55/65 SD/HD ($60) Net Income (after 50% PPV cut): $11,250,000 Gate: $2,998,950 Total Income: $14,248,950 Total Official Fighter Salaries: $10,495,000 Average Salary: $1,311,875 Top paid fighter: Marquez @ $6,000,000 2nd: Timothy Bradley @ $4,100,000 Average Salary Not Including Top 2 Fighters: $61,666 UFC "official" net income: $21,386,000 Boxing "official" net income: $3,753,950 The difference, of course, is that UFC serves as the promoter for these guys, and in boxing, the money goes to their promoters after their salary. So if GSP makes 400K, that is because they don't have to disclose a $6 million payout followed by 5.6 million going to his promoter. In the case of Marquez and Bradley, that is what is happening. Of the $6 million Marquez is being paid, we don't know how much goes to Gary Shaw. Probably at least $5 million of it. For Marquez, his money goes to Golden Boy. |

The one arguement that could be made is that the UFC insists they should be in the same group as major league sports like MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, but all of those leagues have agreements to pay the players ~50% of revenue. All of those leagues assume the costs of training the players as well as promotion/logistics/running the league. The UFC, by my estimation, pays fighters 5-15% of revenue. And the fighters are responsible for their own training, and up until 2 years ago, were even responsible for their own medical insurance. And at any given time, their employer may simply tell them to fuck off and fire them. Granted, running a league with teams vs paying contractors to fight are different, but that is still a huge discrepancy. |
