Season 2 teaser

twitchyzero 04-10-2015 07:08 PM

gonna be difficult to take Vaughn seriously but he might just be able to pull it off
might be hard to develop 4 characters over 8 episodes though

Ronin 04-10-2015 08:40 PM

Doesn't have that same feel. S1 felt so cinematic. The shots were beautiful. The wides especially were just gorgeous and the use of tilt shift...it was just so good for a story where you didn't know who was the crazy one. That teaser up there looks so...conventional. Maybe it'll feel different when they make a real trailer?

eurochevy 04-10-2015 08:57 PM

Ya not sure this will be as good

jeedee 04-11-2015 05:44 AM

season 2 will take place in a big city new York as apposed to seasons 1 eerie marshland so it'll be different for sure

nevertheless looking forward to it

Still considered a big city no? :lol

It's also no longer directed by Cary Fukunaga... S2 is directed by Justin Lin (aka from the Fast and Furious franchise).

As well as the premiere of Ballers with The Rock!

jonwon 06-21-2015 06:57 PM

The intro song sounds fucking stupid

Hondaracer 06-21-2015 07:00 PM

i fucking hate Vince Vaughn so may be hard for me to get past that

Ch28 06-21-2015 09:01 PM

The ending was creepy as fuck when Taylor Kitsch pulled up in the rest stop. I thought the guy was going to attack him or something :lol

nns 06-22-2015 05:31 AM

Agreed the intro music sucks. Almost sounded like a foreign language to me.

SpartanAir 06-22-2015 06:33 AM

Not sure about the casting this time around. Personally not a fan of Colin Farrell, but that might work for him in this type of show as he is a douchebag. Haven't seen Rachel McAdams in much other than the Notebook and Taylor Kitsch ruining Gambit in Wolverine.

Then again my respect for Matthew McConaughey went up after last season...so I'm open to changing my mind.

quasi 06-22-2015 07:05 AM

I thought Rachel McAdams character was the most interesting. it's going to be impossible to live up to the hype of the first season which delivered all the way around but compared to most garbage on TV it looks like it has potential.

This is what concerns me most.

Ronin 06-22-2015 10:41 AM

I disagree about the opening song. I love it...captures the mood that True Detective goes for, which I call "dirty sexy". Seven is a great example of this tone. The opening sequence with the music and visuals reminded me of Seven. Anyone that's played the Hitman games and has heard Jesper Kyd's music...it's the same deal.

I dislike Justin Lin's direction for this series though. Everything is too clean and too Hollywood. I loved Cary Fukunaga's work on S1 and his use of tilt-shift, center composition. It was gorgeous and totally fitting for the series.

jeedee 06-22-2015 10:51 AM

episode 1 was SO GOOD

already like it so much better than season 1, one episode in :lol

Yup! Totally loved it. Not a huge fan of any of the stars but they all seemed to play their role well. I'm hoping I become more of a fan of any of them by the end of the show. Great music and mood throughout as well.

dat_steve 06-24-2015 07:57 AM

i liked it! colin farrell fits the role really well imo

"...12 years old...fuck you!":joy:

I agree with it being too Hollywood, but the season is still early so I've still got hope. The subject of this season seems to be more of corruption vs the occult in S1. S1 started the grimy/creepy vibe off right from the get-go (first scene with the dead girl) while S2 took time to introduce the characters first before any 'meat' of the story. I didn't think that was totally necessary though...cmon HBO give your audience some credit - we can figure the characters out on our own.

Ronin 06-24-2015 10:10 AM

S2 feels much more conventional than S1 but yeah, we'll need some more episodes first.

I loved the occult setting of S1. It made the whole thing just so gross but you can't stop watching it. The whole Yellow King and basing it off a REAL BOOK made it so creepy.
