I've been hearing this as well and I finally decided to jump into the deep end with one. I held a Canadian version and I felt it was a little small, well the UltraLux is plenty big enough - I found myself almost bracing it on the mag instead of the stock. I won't be hunting with it, I just wanted a tack driver for plinking at the range up to 100 metres with iron sights. Yes, metres, not yards. So far, I feel like I made the right choice.

Zedbra 01-18-2016 07:57 PM

I "worked from home" today and low and behold - I ended up at the range around lunchtime. Huh. It was foggy as heck, I was the only one there, and I had a whole bunch of solo time planned for my new CZ 452 Ultralux.

All groups were shot offhand with factory open sights, trying different ammo types. I've found my UL prefers CCI Standard Velocity or CCI Blazer - any jacketed bullets are not predictable. I can only imagine what this thing could do with bags or a stand and a scope.

If you look through the fog in the middle of the picture you can just make out my target stand - that is what I was shooting at when it was at 100 metres.

First 5 groups of 5 shots at 25 metres (not yards). All groups except top right was with CCI Standard Velocity

Best 50 metre group of 10 shots

http://i459.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps0e5zeeai.jpg

Best 100 metre 10 shot group - though some rounds came up from the bottom target; I was getting tired of trying to see the target through the fog by the time this groups was over.

100 metre targets - all were 10 shot groups, or at least they were supposed to be groups

I was just about to leave but decided to run some more mags through my MKIII Hunter and my fourth round in on the first mag the shot didn't sound right, so I unloaded and had a peek and hoping not to see.....yup, a squib. First time this has happened to me with a .22LR. When I stripped my gun at home later there was unburned gunpowder all throughout my pistol. That could have turned out worse, I imagine.

I didn't think Mr. "I only own restricted tacticool stuff" was into 100 metre shooting. :buttkick:

But you, my friend, have an open invite; anytime you want to come up to Squish to do some shooting, let me know.

From advice of others, I decided to order some Birchwood Casey Lead Remover cloths from the States (they don't sell them here). The cloths finally showed up in the mail, so I thought I would try them on my SP101 cylinder. I have never tried to clean the front of the cylinder other than a quick wipe and I got the gun with the front all black. Not even ten minutes of wiping with the cloth and it looks new again. I'm impressed and I recommend these to anyone with stainless guns.

A little out of focus but you can see how black the cylinder face was before cleaning:

And then after using the Birchwood Casey Lead Remover cloth for under ten minutes:

As far as I know, all the glock 19 gen 4s were imported from the US with aftermarket barrels. There haven't been any official shipments to Canadia so hence the scarcity.

Talked to the folks at Wanstall's and because of the dollar, apparently the next shipment of gen 3s will be sitting around $1000.

Better jump on that if you want it!

incubus 01-23-2016 09:40 AM

^ only gen 3 19 came in with factory threaded barrels.

I would go gen 3 with gen4 recoil spring, unless you're a lefty or want to add back straps.

I'm not a glock guy i'd go mp before glock but i do love the glock 19,the HK SFP9 and sig 320s are great

was looking into the SFP9 as well. functions nice but not feeling the look as much as the glock 19 :)

incubus 01-24-2016 12:47 AM

glock isn't the best looking either lol its robust looking, find something that fits your hand.

CRS 01-24-2016 08:21 AM

If you get a p266, you will never regret it.

incubus 01-24-2016 10:29 AM

^exactly what I shoot a sig p226 combat.

http://gifsec.com/wp-content/uploads...iends.gif?gs=a

a nice Wilson combat 1911 would be a great purchase after I win the lottery.

eclipseman 01-24-2016 05:27 PM

If you're looking for comfortable, try the CZ 75s or a 1911.

CZ Shadow/Shadowline/Shadowmate won't disappoint you!

Comfortable and 1911?

Vansterdam 01-25-2016 06:12 AM

I this p226 looks pretty sick!

CanadianGunNutz.com

so many different varietys of the P226. which one do you guys use or recommend? Heard the older German made ones are better. US made ones aren't as good

incubus 01-25-2016 06:58 PM

the whole us and German issue was dealt with after they first opened.

I've had a customer with 2 x5s go down before mine, I've went a year and a half wit no maintenance.

depends what you want your pistol for? competition or more tactical. srt is a necessary upgrade.

Any recommendations for handgun cleaning kit?

Get a decent Pro Shot kit that you can connect extensions onto. I use the same kit for my .357s as I do my 7mm MAG rifle.

I have a specific Gunslick kit that I use for .22s. I bought both of these kits at incubus' shop. Buy lots of patches for various calibres.

Avoid Outers junk, they break just looking at them.

Get these picks: http://www.amazon.ca/Tipton-549864-P...ords=gun+picks

And these or similar brushes: http://www.amazon.ca/Otis-FG-316-3-N...ds=gun+brushes

^ I have those brushes already but I also just ordered these brushes to try: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003...ilpage_o00_s00

Also get some good punches and also roll pin punches.

I was just looking at this: Pro Shot Gun Cleaning Kit Pistol .38 / .357 / 9mm - Cleaning Supplies - Accessories | Lever Arms Service Ltd. - Firearms ? Shotguns ? Rifles ? Pistols ? SKS ? Vancouver?s Premier Gun Store

MK25, Dark Elite, or Combat.

Any of the above, I'll take it.

If I had the cash, I'd have one of each.

Zedbra 01-25-2016 09:26 PM

Spend $10 more and get the one with more extensions that you can use on other guns. Buy any calibre specific jig you may need - they are under $5.

I haven't handled one yet so I'd like to believe I'd still want one, being the sig fan I am.
