Find out what your gun prefers and load that amount. That's why you reload.

Anyone know of a source for decently priced .303 British? Looks like $1.40/round sold in 20's is the lowest I can find.

underscore 03-13-2016 07:15 AM

This might be a dumb question, but how the heck do I buy stuff from Tiger Arms online? Or is their site for info purposes only and they only sell in store?

Zedbra 03-13-2016 08:13 AM

Looks like you will need to call them - they are a new shop.

Tempted.

Though I don't really need another shotgun.

I emailed Tiger, seems they can't ship ammo which is very unfortunate for me because their surplus GP11 is the cheapest I've found in a while. Back to hunting I suppose.

Zedbra 03-13-2016 09:17 PM

That is a good price. You're in Kelowna, eh? I was supposed to head up there for business this week but pushed it off for a few weeks. I will be heading up after spring break. Perhaps I can make a delivery along the way.

underscore 03-13-2016 10:34 PM

I've started a spreadsheet to try and keep track of the pricing for the different calibres I need, and even Tigers non-bulk is cheaper than the bulk elsewhere (per round). If you could bring some up that would be greatly appreciated (and paid for obviously) as nobody that I know in the GVRD has a PAL. I'm half tempted to try and get two crates since I'm starting to get worried that the price is going to jump up.

Zedbra 03-14-2016 06:06 AM

Yeah, the price per round there is excellent and worth picking up. I still have a case and a half and will eventually reload, but at $0.75 per round, it is worth shooting G11. I will try to make it down there this week or next and pick some up.

underscore 03-14-2016 07:34 AM

Sounds good, shoot me a PM if you think you'll be able to bring some up and we can sort something out.

underscore 03-14-2016 04:19 PM

I caved and emailed CSC about their $425 K31's, they're got this 7.52 bore, walnut stock one that they sent me pictures of. Walnut is pretty plain, but no big gouges. Blue is about 90%. Serial number makes it from 1944, the second most plentiful year but I figure that isn't something I should get picky about. I'm half tempted to be impatient and just go for it and half tempted to sit on my wallet and wait for a better deal. I like the darker look of the walnut vs the beech but they only have 7.52 bore with walnut atm (range is 7.51-7.53 for this price bracket apparently).

Thoughts? All said and done it'd be $470 to my door.

That's got some good beaver chew on it. What exactly does that bore size have in relevance to other K31s? Will it still use 7.55 ammo?

I think you could get a nice used one on CGN with a WTB add and saying you'd pay $450 shipped. I picked up my second K31 late last year along with a K11 for $600 plus shipping.

Edit - I just saw your WTB ad. No bites, eh?

underscore 03-14-2016 05:33 PM

I learned today that apparently the Swiss would turn to their rifles to pound in tent pegs if they didn't have mallets, so that one was apparently issued to someone who didn't own a mallet. I believe the bore size relates to bore wear, but from what I've heard about K31's it takes forever to wear them out so I think it's more of a sales tactic than anything, they all still shoot 7.5.

No bites on the WTB, I missed one for $425 + shipping Saturday night that was gone within an hour. I contacted someone last week about one that was sitting at SPF, he said he had another that would be for sale soon but for $500.

Zedbra 03-14-2016 07:08 PM

Well, in all honesty, they are worth $500 - even $600. They sell in Europe for over $1000. I love mine, one always comes to the range with me.

Vansterdam 03-14-2016 08:07 PM

that is pretty sick!

Zedbra 03-14-2016 08:08 PM

Here's a little incentive for you.

underscore 03-14-2016 08:20 PM

True, I just have a hard time dropping $400+ when they were $280 at Wholesale and I saw a bunch going in the $300's a month ago.

The bigger problem now is whether I should be impatient and order that one (or maybe a different one?) from CSC, or wait. I'm already waiting on the two other rifles I bought and Canada Post is being insanely slow (2.5 weeks to get across the country? Really?) so I'm itching to get one in my hands.

edit: saw your post, damn that's pretty. Clamp on mount?

Zedbra 03-14-2016 08:37 PM

Yeah - it's the Swiss Arms mount. My other K31 now has a diopter system that I haven't got to shoot yet.

underscore 03-14-2016 08:56 PM

Screw it, you've convinced me (intentionally or not). If one doesn't pop up overnight I'll grab that one from CSC. I can always find a second prettier/rarer one later.

Zedbra 03-14-2016 09:08 PM

Atta boy. I have learned to enable others in the sport. ;)

underscore 03-14-2016 09:20 PM

Things were a lot easier when it was just me and my pellet guns, now I've got you guys on here and my buddies that got their PALs at the same time that only respond with "do it!" when I propose buying something :lol

Zedbra 03-14-2016 09:23 PM

Well, you can spend a lot of money in this hobby on a lot of junk. A good gun is always going to be a good gun - and it isn't always price that gets you there. I've slowed down my buying to those that I know are going to be good shooters and also what I want. Buy once, cry once. I've also been thinning out the herd a little - getting rid of anything I don't like to shoot. The K31 is a damn good rifle - hence I have two (and a K11) lol.

originalhypa 03-14-2016 10:10 PM

Hey zed, I bet if you cantered that mount, you could hit the center of the target.

:troll:

Srsly tho, that is a really cool setup. The more I see your k31, the more I like the look and precision. There is some real passion surrounding that particular firearm.

Ps: do it underscore.

EleGiggle

But buy quality or else as zed says, you'll regret it. That said, I have a ton of man hours into my t97, and it shoots well. Reliability comes from somewhere. If the factory isn't willing to do the fine tuning, then you have to do it yourself.
