I agree with Ray. I'd honestly buy a dd or sig.

parts aren't available as often as they would be in the states. I was about to go that route and realized I would lose parts or just don't have the patience.

SKS has arrived, gotta tear it apart and clean it up this week, hopefully it goes as easily as the tutorials make it look.

Have any of you guys shot a Winchester SXP Black Shadow before? I am looking to add a 12-gauge to my .22LR Mossberg for some bush fun, and the people at Wholesale were talking this gun up pretty good. The only shotguns I've shot were whatever DVC had (Remington 870 IIRC?) and a Mossberg 500.

Also, I'm finally taking my restricted PAL course this weekend, I can finally own my own handguns!

I'm still drooling over the S&W Model 19, by the way. That is one sweet revolver, and the trigger has been worked to almost perfection on this one.

I have a friend that has an SXP and he loves it - shoots it quite well. Choosing a shotgun is all about how they fit you. If it's an expensive shotgun, you get them fit for you by a gunsmith that will lengthen/shorten the LOP and raise or lower the comb. On a cheaper shotgun (sub $1000) then the gun has to fit you or it really isn't worth the cost to have it modified.

I have an old Mossberg pump that I like to shoot, plus an old Breda 12g semi that fits me perfect. I also have a couple of 20g that I love shooting, they all fit me well. I don;t even look at other shotguns anymore - I'm set.

Super easy. Sometimes the trigger release can be a little sticky from all the cosmoline in there. Brake cleaner is your friend.

I finally had some time yesterday to get to the range with my scoped barrel/shroud Dan Wesson. I set up the target at 15 metres and shot off-hand as always. I once again lost elevation to lower the scope for this close, the scope seems slightly tilted when I hold as opposed to level in the gun vise, and I find the scope heavy - but that was expected.

After that, I tried a new target and got yet another squib with my .38 SPL loads using Titegroup on a Lee Auto Disk set-up. I've since stopped loading light loads with the Auto Disk and only shoot .357 cases with medium to hot loads. Grouping is acceptable, but after the squib I swapped out to the 4.2" barrel.

I finally got that little scale that you recommended. With the titegroups and the .38 casing, you're pretty much limited to hand loads. The amount of TG you need it far lower than the smallest disc which is .30

Sucks, I know..... Now, you could use a 158gr projectile in a 357 casing, and I think that should work out to about .32 on the Lee disc loader. I'm sure you know this, but I'm just happy that I know it too :D

Canadian Tire in Langley has powder now. It's $50 for a kg of the stuff. Pricey, but they have a good selection of various powders.

Yeah, the younger guy running that gun department used to work at Budget Shooter Supply, so he is bringing in what is commonly needed and is doing a decent job. They've had some decent sale prices on some of their rifles, too.

Trying to find a store other than Bullseye in Canada to compare prices but haven't had any luck.

I took my neighbour's International student out shooting today. We originally wanted to shoot trap, but that was changed at the Club, so I had brought a few rifles and my Ruger pistol for him to try - he had never shot a rifle or a handgun before and he loved it.

Shooting my Steyr Prohunter .270. I shot it a few rounds, was able to put one bullet through the same hole twice at 100y and then 50y.

Took out the SKS today, it feels closer to my .22 than my K31 in some ways. Lots of fun to shoot but not even close to the K31 for accuracy (in my inept hands anyways :lol)

Guys, I have a dilemma here. I want a plinking gun/messing around gun, so I was thinking of a 12-gauge shotgun, but then I remembered about the SKS. What is your recommendation? I am thinking of a Winchester SXP, a regular SKS or a SKS with a ATI stock already attached.
