I love my little 1911 toy. That said, I've moved the light to my Remington 870. I had a scare with a coyote in my yard a couple of weeks ago. He was hunting one of our farm cats and didn't like that I interfered. He was angry and lunged at me, and all I had on my person was a bat and a maglight. Some of you may know the feeling of wishing you had a firearm on you. Since the law states that I can't take a restricted out for any reason, I added the light to an NR that I can use for protection against nasty animals. Plus it looks so cool. :awwyeah: |
Strap a light onto a camo'd hockey helmet and go for the tactical headbutt Canadian stylee |
Hey Ian sorry for the late reply. I only have the 3 die set $57.99 |

Hi guys new to this section of rs. Any recommendations for a good place to take both non-restricted safety course and core? Thanks in advance! edit these guys any good? http://firearmsafetytrainingcourse.c...nting-program/ safety course plus core for $270 |
Kent is awesome. I took my PAL and restricted courses there over the span of two weekends. It was a lot of work and time to finish it all in one day. That said, there are lots of options these days. The Justice Institute, Silvercore, and pretty much any of the gun ranges can set you up with the course. |
Pretty sure it was Kent who I did my restricted with. Was just him and I lol |
I can't help with the City - I did my PAL and CORE in Pemberton and my RPAL at my gun club in Squamish. |
Got home from a long drive back from Kamloops and my new grips arrived and my wife bought me some nail polish - so I could add some dots to the black sights on my 1911. New Cool Grips(that's their name) and sights w/nail polish: |

So with the new Lib gov pushing through with their reforms of fear, I'm thinking I should maybe add an AR lower while I can. I have no interest in a full build right now but would consider something complete if around $1g. I have no clue about black rifles - what should I look at? |
Depends on what you can afford and what you're looking for. Complete ARs for around $1000 are do-able. First brand that come to my mind is North Eastern Arms. They are a Canadian company and although they did have some quality control issues in the beginning I've heard their newer rifles are pretty good and reliable. Dominion Arms is company that sells complete ARs in the $600-800 range. They are okay rifles if you just want to use them to plink at the range. Although they are based out of North Van, I'm pretty sure they sell rebranded Chinese ARs. Obviously Norinco is another company that sells cheap as shit ARs, but they're pretty hard to find nowadays. Perhaps Norinco is now selling their ARs exclusively to Dominion Arms? Also, I not too sure on how "grandfather" laws work in Canada. Even if you have a lower before the ban if the government lists the restricted lower as prohibited, the lower will then be illegal and the RCMP can arrest you for it for owning one. This is especially easy as the lower is restricted and the RCMP knows exactly who owns one. Perhaps others can chime in on this subject |
Well, in the past when they decided that they needed to prohib short barreled pistols, those owners became licenced to own those still - 12(6) licences or 12(7); preventing the government from physically removing people's property. Know how many registered prohibited guns have ever been used in a crime by the legal owner? Yeah - none. I've only ever heard negative about NEA - I will look into the new ones perhaps, Dominion Arms are indeed Norincos that are branded DA for Canada Ammo. |

Well, I spoke with incubus and dropped by his shop, where he put almost every AR they had in my hands; explained the differences, different brands to consider, etc. I really liked the Daniel Defence but really didn't want to jump into a $2500 AR right out of the gate. He mentioned he really likes his Sig and that kind of stuck in my head. Was snooping around, and then SFRC decided to put on a sale and low and behold - they had a Sig M400 in stock. Added a Vortex Strike Eagle, a Vortex 2" cantilever scope mount, and 5 extra mags for a total with shipping and taxes in at $2g. So now I am waiting for the postman to surprise me. Anyone have a preferred ammo? This barrel has a 1:7 twist so it should be able to handle heavier bullets. |

Just get your hands on any plinker ammo. Anything with brass and you're good to go! |
Wolverine supply is now carrying Fab Defense products out of Israel. They make some great bits and pieces, and I had to order some BIUS, and a bipod. So long, $220! On a bright note, I had to renew my firearms license the other day. I sent in my application at the end of January, and received my new license yesterday. We're basically talking 10 days for renewal, not including time spent in the mail. Not bad at all, BC CFO! |
I got the email that my packages arrived - but I am in Kamloops for three days! I checked out the Cabela's FFP Covenant scopes today - supposedly made by Vortex. I was thinking of trying one out on a .22? |
