$39,900 2006 BMW M3 Competition package, MT, 55700 KMs

This thing is mint but things to note - vanos and subframe not done. Although it seems to be well taken care of. Not sure if this his worth $40k considering e9x can be had for the same price.

westopher 09-02-2020 08:47 AM

This is probably the best car ever spec’d as far as e46s go. Well worth it, and not going to be worth only 20k in a couple years like a 40k e90/2.
Not that I particularly care about value, I’d rather own the e46 on looks and driving dynamics.

CompM3 09-02-2020 09:36 AM

If this car checks out with no accidents it is priced very fairly considering the rarity and mileage. This e46 m3 is usually what people are looking for in terms of the ultimate speccd e46 m3. You could easily get more money than his asking on BringATrailer when you decide to sell it in the future.

320icar 09-02-2020 10:02 AM

You’d have to be a very specific person willing to drop that much money. To me that’s an insane price tag for brakes, wheels and suspension package all that would get swapped out in no time anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

westopher 09-02-2020 10:11 AM

I mean, it’s not just the comp pack. It’s low mileage in the final year and (subjectively) the best colour/interior offering available. If it was a black/black non comp pack it would still be a 28-30k car. I don’t think the buyer of that car would want to get rid of those wheels/brakes either.
Agreed it takes a specific person, but I’d bet there are more people out there than these cars still.

I think that is a 50K car on BaT if everything is clean/no claims etc.

edit: went into google photos... rims need to be redone, and car could use some detailing lol

SkunkWorks 09-02-2020 11:23 AM

Local ZCP with 44k kms was RNM at 30k on BAT back in Sep 2019 - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-bmw-m3-36/

Market's certainly moved up since then so someone should pick it up.

Aside from the CSL of course.

BIC_BAWS 09-03-2020 12:26 PM

FYI for anyone looking in to the comp. Brakes are significantly ~ 2-3x the price of regular brakes. The rotor is larger and is a floating design iirc, and there's not many options for non OEM rotors.

However, I think I have a set of 4 lying around LOL

There's also a wheel fitment issue to be concerned about. Offsets will be different from regular E46 M3

Nahhhhhh I want the clutch. Although those csl seats are a compelling argument. Up there with the 996 gt3 CS as my favourite OE seat ever offered

You can see the civic in the background better than the actual car for sale.

Probably not a good buy....

But certainly in the realm of... oh... I can own this loan free???

Im not sure whats going on OR why its so cheap... but... lol.... especially for the R8... that is less than Civic Type R money.... even if you drove it to the ground.. probably still worth 10k to some junk yard.... probably needs 20k worth of work just to be driveable?

So that is...

45K purchase price + tax + 20k maintenance - 10k of your selling price = 55K + tax + insurance and gas is your 2015 R8 V10 ownership cost.... what other car gonna cost me 55k on the used market locally....

They have a 2017 911 for 48k...... Something is fucked up there.

dark0821 09-03-2020 06:31 PM

^flood cars? rebuild?

Flood + rebuild + major accident?

If it is a CLEAN title, the price is enough to warrant a plane ticket... maybe a 2nd ticket for your trusty mechanic to do a PPI lol.... (kinda not really joking...)

If it looks too good to be true then it's a scam

Quote:

Jalynn Auto Ltd with website www.jalynnautoltd.ca is a SCAM! They just changed their website beginning August 2020 to www.CanadaCars-Inc.ca and they are the same scammers with the same fake 'cars', 'boats' etc. DO NOT PAY ANY MONEY (or pay it in trust at legal notary if you don't believe this review). The pictures and documents, including pictures of VIN, are all fake. They advertise on www.A************ and want you to wire transfer money as downpayment before any car can be seen or inspected. They will ask for your passport or DL and may abuse with ID theft. The bank will not return your money after the wire transfer. If you don't believe this: ask to see the car or meet the salesperson (who is likely overseas). Or simply ask for the physical address where the car should be and check it out on maps or call the neighbour. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! Do not expect the police or the bank to help you get your money back.(Note: I was scammed by them and experienced myself: if you gave your DL, you cannot even get a new DL number)

SkunkWorks 09-03-2020 07:34 PM

100% scam. Their location is an office tower in downtown St. John's.

They ignored my request to go pick up the car in person even though they claimed cars were stored on a lot close by.

Absolutely no one repos cars from across the country to ship to SJ only to reship back to southern Ontario/AB/lower mainland.

Other than the el cheapo tires, that Miata looks absurdly clean for the mileage. How are those seats not cracked or wrinkled :fulloffuck:

The 2006 M3 Comp at the top of the page has a $13k front end hit. Jasonturbo was looking at it.

If the front end collision required a mechanical fan or water pump replacement, its not a good sign. On a S54, the water pump mounting on the block is built off the side of the engine that sits off on a flange. If the hit is hard enough, the rad will push on the fan. the fan will push on the water pump. The water pump shaft will act like a big punch that hammers on to the thin mounting flange on the block. Can put a hole into the flange or make a crack. Result in never ending coolant leak from wp area and a ruined block. I've seen a couple of yard engines with this problem. Just a useless trivia fyi.
