good deal for someone.

StanleyR 02-12-2019 06:25 PM

If this is as good as it seems, it could be a great investment.
Far more reliable than the troublesome AWD R models which were it's successors.
Only downside for me, is the auto tranny:

so did volvo copy dakar yellow or is it the other way around

StanleyR 02-12-2019 09:43 PM

it's not "Dakar" it's "Cream/Canary Yellow"

Cream Yellow[38][39] – 2,537 worldwide including saloon and estate. Only 346 sedans in this color were imported into the United States; wagons, only 49.[38] Cream Yellow was marketed in the Australian market as 'Faded Yellow' to compensate for the unrelenting Australian sun. The Gothenburg boffins were aware of the 1990s paint technology, and the fact it wouldn't retain its deep luster over the course of time, and hence, the clever marketing descriptor, 'Faded Yellow' was coined.

Canary yellow was done on the g60 corrado in 89-91 first. I'm sure Porsche did a variant far before that.
edit: Condor yellow on the Porsche 356 was similar. I love all of the above for the record.

donjalapeno 02-13-2019 06:46 PM

The car that rocks the canary yellow best is the 2002. I think BMW calls it "Golf" yellow.

Of course the 901 suits the color as well.

Ugh... carb motor? No thanks... why didn't he go EFI and avoid the ugly hood with terrible fitment?

Fafine 02-15-2019 03:48 PM

Prob cause it's cheaper

hud 91gt 02-15-2019 04:26 PM

I don’t think Kit Cars are ever a good deal... but honestly this is cool.

My best friend growing up had one when we were 14... the gas version. He never ended up getting it on the road. Had no idea an electric version was made.

That is an odd looking car but not in a good way. That front overhang, fender gap and those front fender proportions.:heckno:

Don't see many of these. Absolute money pit but a fun and comfy one if you can get it for cheaper than asking price. This is the car Hammond should of brought to the China challenge in the latest Grand Tour episode.

Yeah but, then who'd be representing the American luxury car manufacturers?
There was already two Euro luxury/sport sedans.

twitchyzero 02-16-2019 08:44 PM

probably a really good reason why a 120k vehicle can be worth less than 5% original value
even if most components are miraculously in working order, most of the gasoline will seem like it's evaporating (v8 + 4000lbs = 13mpg city)

320icar 02-17-2019 07:58 AM

Price is typically over inflated for blitzkreig and they’ll probably sit on it for gid knows how long, but sick car
