In all honesty, I think we hold Kassian to a higher standard because of what Mike Gillis pegged him as when we acquired him, similar to how Kevin Weekes was proclaimed to be the goalie of the future. Was Steve Bernier held to that same level of scrutiny? It certainly softens the blow knowing that CoHo has more or less become just as irrelevant as Kassian.

Having said that, the Islanders traded away a young pre-developed Bertuzzi, promising young d-man in Bryan McCabe, and a 3rd rounder for a just past his prime Trevor Linden back in the day. So it shows what kind of value a non-developed potential power forward holds, or held.

you cant break down that linden trade in anyway simply because milbury was the GM and swung that deal...he was so bad...

lappy in pens uni :heckno:

Lol Mike Milbury, just the name brings on so much lulz... I rmbr way back when he selected Nilan as an all-star
:lawl: most clueless hockey man in the history of clueless hockey men

68style 01-28-2015 05:15 PM

He made millions more than any of us ever did at this :D

What, this doesn't put the fear of God into you?

http://blogimages.thescore.com/nhl/f...kassian-12.jpg

Even Mike Keenan acknowledged that Bert was open and willing to put in the work and learn the game. After several setting and coaching changes, it seems that Kass isn't able to even understand what this means, yet... (or ever?)

6o4__boi 01-28-2015 05:38 PM

Yeah...I wish I got paid millions for my fuck ups.

Can you imagine the dynasty the isles could've had if he had even an ounce of gm knowledge
Luongo as the goalie...Chara and Berrard on d, picked Gaborik/Heatley instead of DiPietro
Had McCabe, Bertuzzi, ...Torres on the bottom six
Not given up the selection that became Spezza.

Holy shit lol

RRxtar 01-28-2015 07:03 PM

wait, weren't you guys just talking about how Kass deserves a chance, and top minutes, and all his potential that WD and management are wasting? like 10 pages ago?

Jaffray 01-28-2015 07:41 PM

^ Believe so. And that a power forward needs time to "develop" blah blah blah. He isn't going to develop and he doesn't have the mentality to either

winson604 01-28-2015 08:27 PM

So are we and Buffalo both losers of the trade?

Nabatron 01-28-2015 08:39 PM

Maybe we should have kept coho?

kings win today makes ours hurt less... just kings doing what they do

sonick 01-28-2015 09:36 PM

In the theme of #BellLetsTalk, I was just reminded of Rick Rypien and the fucking heart he brought on the ice and never backed down.

He took on guys way out of his league but kept on swinging... RIP Ryp

One of his best:

Also, no discipline for Kesler's hit on Dorsett, deemed unintentional. Bullshit.

68style 01-28-2015 10:23 PM

Hmm I'll have to remember that next time I'm playing, it's not intentional to lift your elbow as it's going by someone's head. Alright then.

Hodgson's way better than Kassian...
But a moot point, because Hodgson wanted out.

Only good thing Kassian has done was this:

Nabatron 01-28-2015 10:27 PM

He wanted out because he wanted top line minutes and saw that he wasn't going to go ahead past hank and kes. Also his dad was a major problem too!

Dorsett who? Never heard of him. Probably not important enough to suspend whoever hit him.

Would you have traded Schneider to EDM for 7th overall and prospect over the NJ deal? That 7th overall ended up being Nurse.

Looking Back: The Canucks Lost the Cory Schneider Trade and It Was Not Close - Nucks Misconduct

6o4__boi 01-29-2015 10:58 AM

^ how come idiots always get published...jesus, the bar for quality analysis and published fan opinion must be low these days...i should try out

"devanmalhotra94" ...more like 696969idontknowshitabouthockey99gretzkyisbest

possibly one of the dumbest hockey-related opinion articles i've read in a while...i wanna find this guy and smack him with a newspaper.
He's ripping on a 19 yr old playing his first full nhl season using advanced stats...what the actual fuck...good job bro, you can fucking use numbers and make advanced analysis based on advanced stats, fucking amazing! Where's the nobel prize for the greatest hockey opinion based on advanced stats? What? It doesn't exist? Someone make it for this guy!
did you expect brilliant numbers or something?

those EDM 7th round speculation were mere rumors, and trading a franchise-type goaltender to a division rival? it would need to be a pretty sweet deal for that to happen.

Nope. Nurse wouldn't be able to do anything for the Canucks anyways.

Regardless, I think the Tortorella hire made everything worse.

And to make it worse, we lost basically 2 centres in Manny and Lapierre and replaced them with Richardson and Shroeder. lol

Tim Budong 01-29-2015 04:20 PM

alley-oop! Tavares is beastin...

uhhh Manny is totally and completely useless as an NHL'er, I don't want a guy in my lineup who just wins 8% more face offs than an average centre man and does nothing else.
