WOW so LA put Mike Richards on waivers

6o4__boi 01-26-2015 09:12 AM

Was just gonna say...lol how the mighty have fallen. First Heatley now Richards
I think he'll get claimed though.
hopefully jb doesn't get tempted. The last thing this team needs is a locker room cancer

So with bobrovsky out 4-6 weeks, do you see Columbus trading for a goalie?
Just for shiggles who do you anticipate coming out of CBJ for a possible goalie trade?

Even if they do, JB won't trade Lack or Miller and Markstrom doesn't have enough trade value yet.
If they did trade Lack or Miller, they'd have to call up Markstrom and I think they would lose him on re-entry waivers.

What happens to dry island in LA with Carter's drinking buddy potentially leaving the Kings? :toot:

There is no such thing as re-entry waivers anymore.

If EDM doesn't claim him or trade for him after he clears, I'll be shocked

Tim Budong 01-26-2015 01:01 PM

Okposo out 6-8 wks
Malkin on IR

So for some relief...here's PK Subban singing...

XplicitLuder 01-26-2015 01:10 PM

You guys think likely he'll get claimed? 5.7m with only 5 goals this season doesn't sound very appealing ;/

D'oh. You're right. Things changed in the new CBA.
Hmmm.
Trade Lack for picks or prospects and call up Markstrom. :concentrate:

That's what I'm thinking but we need more of a top 6 forward then picks right now.

I doubt we would get anything other than what we already have in terms for forwards in a trade with Lack.

In that sense, with how "deep" 2015 is supposed to be, I'd rather get a 2nd or 3rd rounder and hope for something useful. Lack was essentially "free" anyways since he wasn't drafted.

6o4__boi 01-26-2015 02:11 PM

I could see Richards doing better if they give him top six roles and minutes (ie Edmonton)
He's basically a grinder in LA with an average of 11-13 mins of ice time
But there is a huge downside and risk that he'll Fuck up the dressing room.

But fuck it anything is worth the risk in Edmonton :lawl:

So was Miller. But would Miller take a trade to a contender?
Obviously CBJ is not a contender so he won't go there.

With all the time put into training and helping Lack become a better goalie he's far from free. Yes we didn't give up anything for him but all that work put into him is what really matters here.

Richards would be a great addition to the team of youngsters... have that veteran presence to teach them and mentor them...

Spoiler!

Tim Budong 01-26-2015 02:57 PM

I can't fully rmb, but was reading over lunch that the Kings had a deal in place for Richards to the Jets and/or Leafs, but fell through

They waived him believing that no team is going to pick him up.

Reason deal fell through was the term of the contract.

If Richards were to call it quits, than the CBA will penalize the kings and some of that salary will count towards the cap

and with that... Colorado announces that Erik Johnson will be out 3-8wks as well

Today is like.. injury reporting day

Stevin 01-26-2015 05:47 PM

I think he gets claimed. Too many teams desperate teams with cap space.

Tim Budong 01-26-2015 06:02 PM

Can't see too many teams needing a Mike Richards

in some capacity, you are starting to see many teams with some sorta decent depth at centre and are rather wanting to develop their own kids versus a guy with 5 goals and a 5.75m for the next five years on the books

68style 01-26-2015 06:35 PM

Not compliance buying him out was a stupid costly move on their part

Remeber reading an article, Lombardi had a sit down with Richards cause they intended on buy him out. Richards promised to be better and Lombardi gave him a pass cause of his past contributions.

I can see a team picking him just to hit the cap floor like AZ or CBS.

So much more entertaining than the "robotic" Sedin vs. Sedin series.

Grimaldi was suspended by the league for one game by the league, but his employers went one step further and released him immediately. These types of events that once were relatively commonplace in most pro leagues now stand out like sore thumbs, and when a player loses his job over it, they’re likely to become even rarer.
