The RCMP are once again doing tire checks just north of Squamish, no more warnings this time - fines and towed if you don't have proper tires. If you are heading up for opening weekend in Whis, you better have proper tires as the roads are slippery.

Are they just checking for M+S or Winter, or are they mandating winters?

I don't know for certain, but they can turn away vehicles if they feel your tires are inadequate for the current road conditions - I've helped quite a few people put their chains on in the Canadian Tire parking lot because the RCMP turned them around with their M+S tires due to heavy snow.

^If I remember/read correctly, have to have winters on sea to sky this season

If they're allowing M+S, you'll probably have to have almost full tread pretty much

Where exactly? I thought they’re usually checking near Alice Lake.

They don't work here IMO with the amount of ice we get.

Maybe if all we got was nice champagne powder snow

Kal Tire quoted us $1600 installed for a set of 4 Nokian WRG3.

Ordered from Discount Tire Bellingham and got them installed down there. $1100 Cdn all said and done. Pretty happy with the deal.

3.5 mm is the minimum legal tread depth for winter tires in BC (approximately 9/64")

Cheaper ones yes. My Blizzaks and X-ice3s are both quieter than the stock summer tires I run.

Nope. My XI3 is quiet as fuck, which was a pleasant surprise.

Went to Cypress today and so many people on All-Seasons and it was dumping all day. Lol.

For WRG3's? What size do you run? Unless it's a large SUV/truck size, they shouldn't be anywhere near that price.

Yea, its quiter than my summer prirellis.

Just this howling started when i got past 70km/h and gets pretty disturbing at 120km/h on hwy 99 and knight st bridge.

Maybe its the moisture+wind hitting the tight clearance between my rims and caliper Hope it dries up tomorrow and will make a difference.
