Yes, I know, but at the time the hate for Coho was pretty strong in these threads. I remember being one of the few who was really upset at the trade. It was also one of the things that really made me hate AV.

Coho asked for it. I mean.. somewhere between the WJHC, the draft, the jrs again and back...something happened and he suddenly stopped playing to his potential..

We traded what turned out to be one trainwreck for another trainwreck. At least we didn't get saddled with a long-term buyout like Buffalo did.

That said, CoHo was a considerably better player at the time of the trade. Could've helped us maybe win another game or two, but I doubt we would've beat the Kings regardless.

yea, but that was Buffalo's own doing when they gave him a 6 year $25mil+ contract.

Kassien traded to Oilers for Ben Schrivens.
Deal is done.

Yup, Oilers announced it and that they are retaining 24% of Scrivens' salary. Now how soon till Kass injurys the first Canucks' player with a stupid wreckless play.

Bouncing Bettys 12-28-2015 05:53 AM

I'm a little less inclined to hate on Kassian after learning a little about his tough upbringing but I am glad he isn't in the East to injure more Leafs. If there wasn't the tiniest bit of intent in any of his actions, then he is probably the most spacially unaware and wreckless players I have ever witnessed. Good luck to his career and to anyone who gets in his way.

SumAznGuy 12-28-2015 06:08 AM

Kassian will report to the Oilers AHL team for conditioning.
But what suprises me the most is what the Habs were able to get for him.
The Habs have been falling with Price's latest injury. From their great start, they are now down to third in their division.
Habs needed an NHL ready goalie.
Oilers had Schrivens third on their depth chart and were paying him NHL money.
Now the Oilers retain 24% of his cap, the Habs get that goalie they need and only take on a little more salary. $0.3855M.
Talk about a steal for Montreal.
And for Edmonton, even if Kassian never plays an NHL game for them, it is a semi salary dump too as they lose 76% of Schrivens contract.

The way this year's NHL season has unfolded, I'm not surprised. Every elite player in past years has fallen off the cliff it's uncanny.

7seven 12-28-2015 07:31 AM

That division is pretty close right now, but not too shocked about the Panthers, Barkov and Ekblad are legit stars in the making already making an impact. Huberdeau and Bjugstad are good young players, Jagr is still defying father time and Lu is still a very good goaltender. I'm rooting for the Panthers just because of Lu and Willie Mitchell.

68style 12-28-2015 08:13 AM

At first I was a bit surprised/shocked that the Oilers management would make a move to introduce a very enigmatic and unruly personality into their young and impressionable dressing room............ but then I remembered it was Oilers management :troll:

Scrivens stats in the AHL are less than appealing... Scrivens will most likely play at Condon/Tokarski level if not worse

....or he could be the next Dubnyk

Scrivens will be fine in the NHL. It's not like the Oilers are full of first round talent in the AHL.

Dubnyk is a good goalie. It's just that he played on a shitty Oilers team with no NHL caliber D men at the time.

When it comes to team game, the A doesn't compare to the NHL. Guys know where they are expected to be and all the goalies need to do is focus on making the first save.

Man...if only we got Bjugstad with that Luongo trade...

Honestly, no matter how good you are in the East, they still can't beat a Western conference team in the cup finals imo.

Chicago looks like they are on track for another cup run imo.

murd0c 12-28-2015 06:12 PM

wow that was a nasty hit on Hank

radioman 12-28-2015 06:12 PM

Looks like something I'd see watching WWE Raw.

We get the extra 2 :fuckthatshit:

Unless the Canucks is the team representing the West

Dubnyk also played for Nashville and Montreal, where he was even worse. Nashville's coach basically threw Edmonton's goaltending coach under the bus, saying Dubnyk had tons of bad habits.

If not for Sean Burke in Arizona, Dubnyk would probably be in Europe right now.

Scrivens is fine, albeit awkward. He's no starter but he's an okay backup.

I've always wonder where'd Canucks be right now if Luc is still here. :QQ:
