Next generation VW Tiguan will have a PHEV model boasting 100km on EV range.

Hoping they'll bring the PHEV variant to our shores this time. They already sell a PHEV variant of the current gen in other markets but it never made it here.

But then you'll have to deal with owning a Tiguan. I still can't get over how crappy the current Tiguan is.

bcrdukes 06-21-2023 02:00 PM

What is wrong with the Tiguan?

It feels cheap inside, awful to drive, boaty, sluggish. Compared to when it was basically a lifted Golf in the Mk6 gen.

bcrdukes 06-21-2023 02:27 PM

So it's not a Golf R, eh? You read that, trollface?

Badhobz 06-21-2023 02:49 PM

Still think my mk7 sportwagen was best vw. Such a good chassis and that ea888 was quite stout. Only problem was that crappy dsg / leaky pano roof and potential unreliability. Otherwise I would have just bought it out.

Slow, poorly put together, poorly specc'ed materials, decontented to a point to slot it under the Q5, poor egonomics, floaty, handles bad.

The only good thing is if you want Euro and Highlander sized 7 seat for 45k. The Highlander is a better choice though.

JDMDreams 06-21-2023 09:04 PM

I don't get why people like Audi, the seats are so uncomfortable, drove around in a q5 s line. The seats are so hard like I'm sitting in a wooden chair. Not really a fan of the interior layout either. Worse than bmw sport seats.

What he said. I test drove it, and just went wtf. The Highlander, Pilot, hell even the Equinox was a better drive.

Funny, I can't get comfortable in BMW Sport Seats - tried a M340i, X3, and X3M. Only comfortable in the X3M with the non-Sport bucket seats (whatever they're called). I fit VAG seats much better - whether it's a GTI, S5/RS5/TT whatever, or a Porsche Cayman/Taycan/911 - all feels comfortable to me. Different body shapes I guess.

Also, hard is better for long road trips, you get more support. I do like my mattresses firm as well, but not Seahorse firm.

Just noticed a bunch of Long Range Model 3s in inventory are on sale - perhaps they're clearing them out to make room for the Shanghai models?

I'm guessing it's the quarter end push for sales

Decent deal if you're able to utilize all the EV rebates, $62 grand out the door after taxes and rebates

Also the refreshed model 3 is just around the corner too, I believe for a fall release.

EDIT: Big correction

The Long range Model 3 does NOT qualify for the provincial rebate because the MSRP is more than $55,000

So out the door price would be $66,000 roughly

radeonboy 06-23-2023 09:42 AM

The Model S / X's are also $10k off with 3 years of free charging - seems decent at that price range given their tech / performance.

CorneringArtist 06-24-2023 07:31 PM

Drove the Polestar 2 at the Surrey activation today. Performance pack, RS'er was my test drive host. Thing is nuts, and I took my mother on the test drive. She approved.

whitev70r 06-24-2023 08:26 PM

^ what is wait time on a Polestar?

SSM_DC5 06-25-2023 11:46 AM

Friend in the past few months inquired about getting a new rav4 prime. Salesperson said 5 year wait and they take $1000 as deposit. Do dealerships give interest for holding your money that long?

Polestar Vancouver seems to be expecting a bunch of cars in mid July. However, they seem to be the pre-updated models. With the single motor cars at least, the facelifted model is a lot better, having quite a power bump as well as being RWD (instead of FWD).

Some one said there's Pornstar(:D) test drives again, where?

Advertising on social media at this time. This weekend was at Guildford in Surrey.

Based on the conversation I had with PotenzaEight during the test drive, Tesla owners don't find the Polestar "digital" enough, and that unless people know, they're going to miss out on the 2024 update.

I'm not going to be buying for a year or so, so I'm hoping for additional updates, or adapting NACS.

What does not being "digital" enough mean? I don't like the polestar because it looks ugly.

tegra7 06-25-2023 04:50 PM

Seen a bunch an Vinfast vehicles sitting at the back of a lot near Keywest Ford in New Westminster.

Potentially looking for a new daily. This Corolla Hybrid is asking $45,800.

Isn’t a Model 3 SR for $49k a no brainer?

Badhobz 06-25-2023 11:15 PM

^i rather go 55k for the model y. More space and hatch is useful. Otherwise same car.

Model 3 base with no options, $55 grand after tax and rebates

Model Y base with no options $60,4XX after tax and rebates

An extra 5 grand is a no brainer, bigger space, hatch, and premium sound system

Depends on you needs/wants. MY is slower, less range, and doesn't handle as well as the M3. I still cant get over the ugly roof line and side cladding on the MY.
