FUUuuUUUUuuu, classic Tesla, dropping prices again for their Model Y... At least it's only up to $700 this time....

That's for existing inventory.

The biggest price drop would have to be the Model 3 Long Range, $5,000 price drop for existing inventory

It's the tip of the iceberg with the ID4. There are so many things with it that makes you question what someone was thinking when they designed it. It's a great looking vehicle but they really made some bad choices with the interior design.

Looking for a rental car for my trip to Australia and EVs are not just available but they're way cheaper to rent than gas cars. A model 3 goes for as little as $24CAD/day while you can get a BMW iX3 for a few bucks more. I need to look into what the charging network is like for the places I'm going (I have a couple day trips out of Sydney) but I've booked the iX3 for now.

Electric cars in Australia is so dumb when something like (off the top of my head) 70% of the grid is coal fired.

Yeah, that's simply untrue. Even when using coal fired electricity, an EV is still better for the environment over a gas vehicle. https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/el...-vehicle-myths

Any incentive right now for installing a charger @ your residence? Seemed like the charger rebate program is no longer available after June 15, sounded like the funding has ran out.

Slight change in Tesla's color selection

White is no longer the standard color, it's now midnight silver metallic

Traum 07-05-2023 01:30 PM

Resale value dark gray. Ugh...

The Tesla pearl white is actually quite a nice looking colour. I can't believe you'd actually have to start paying extra money for that...

It started off as a $2,600(?) color back when black was the base color. Crazy how black is now the premium paint color at $2,000 - more expensive than the white or blue.

Yet still cheaper than red @ $2600.

The biggest incentive is being able to charge at home. If you want to do it on the cheap, just hire an electrician to install a range plug or something of the sort and get the Travel Charger from Tesla with the appropriate adapter plug to fit in the outlet you just had installed. It will not be the fastest charger out there but will still give you roughly 7-10% charge every hour. My electrician neighbour did this for me 5 years ago for about $100 for material and it took roughly 2 hours.

I looked into it earlier this year and it was almost pointless to try and get the rebate. Electrician wanted $400 to get the permit that bchydro requires to do the work.

tegra7 07-07-2023 10:17 AM

Mercedes announced that they will be riding the Tesla wagon.

whitev70r 07-07-2023 01:16 PM

They have cornered the charging standard market ... it's just a matter of time before every EV company has to change.

TSLA keeps on going

Anyone know if the bc EV rebate ask for money back if they sold the car within < 1 year?

I've seen it discussed on other forums, but is Tesla following through on this? My in-law's has a 2022 Model 3 and wish to switch to a XC40 and I told them they might need to wait another 2 months...

JDMDreams 07-11-2023 11:20 AM

How will they know? Lien check you every month?

What's motivating them to make the switch from the Model 3 to the XC40?

They want to go back to a Volvo for the comfort and 'beefy' interior (they had a s40 and V60 before).

Traum 07-12-2023 10:12 AM

I'd have to say the XC40 (recharge, I assume?) is an inferior EV to the TM3. But hey, whatever floats their boat, right?

Yeah I think most people are more about the rest of the car though, as long as the EV part is "good enough".

And now that Volvo's also onboard with NACS, they'll get the game-changing Supercharger access too. Tesla's losing their moat.

other than maybe the EV as mentioned, the rest of the car looks a millions times better than any tesla.
