usually how hockey teams work is if you have mediocre team and great goaltending it will only get so far till the wheels fall off...Its very hard for the goaltending to sustain the amount of level it needs to be to win games. Unless you have a stud goaltender like price.

In all honesty the canucks are in both a win win situation I guess from a fans stand point.

Scenario 1: Team is so bad they aren't that far off from being last in the league which can get you another top 5 pick.

Scenario 2: Team is still in a position to make the playoffs since the western conference is so bad.

Ideally most fans would take scenario 1 and ship out expiring contracts out for draft picks...
