All this won't matter until this current contract expires. Hell... no one knows if Linden or Benning will be around when the twins contract is up either.

The new guy may not have any relationship with the Sedins at all and may choose to not hand out extensions... until AQ comes in of course.. but then thats another disaster

He's having a pretty good playoffs so far (5GP and 1G 6A)

Realized I still had $21 left in my account so I just threw that all on him haha

Sedins aren't going anywhere unless they want to leave. I think they stay in Vancouver for the summer even longer now. Before they would go back to Sweden. Now. They're here in July.

Rebuild, burn it to the ground, whatever the hell you want to call it. It's not going to work. It doesn't work. You need to draft well, sign and trade for pieces that complements your teams core and hope for some damn puck luck as well as some luck to avoid injuries to win the cup.

Look at buffalo, Arizona, Colorado, Carolina. They rebuild and traded away veterans. Look at where they are now.

You can argue Edmonton and Toronto making the playoffs. Hey. You don't get a mcdavid or Matthews every year. Plus how many years have they sucked for?

Chicago sucked for a long time before they started winning. They had high picks players like barker and SKILLE lol. Look at their 2000 draft.

You draft the best players you see. You do your best to develop them. You acquire supporting players in cheapest way possible. Hope for some damn luck who knows what can happen in the playoffs.

Look at Ottawa. I didn't expect them to be in the playoffs let alone second round already.

I actually want the Canucks to pick Hischier. Really unsure of Patrick, not because of the injuries, but what all the scouts are saying about him. Solid player, good two-way game, reminds them of Bo Horvat. We don't need another Horvat, we need top end skill, something Hischier brings to the table. Hischier and Horvat down the middle would look really really good for the future. Even Casey Mittelstadt is an intriguing choice, but he is likely 2 years out at least due to committing to the NCAA. Canucks need an offensive game changer.

If they win the 1st overall pick, are they pressured to pick Patrick?

Right now the #1 pick is split between Patrick or Hischier. Scouts are no longer saying Patrick is #1 consensus.

I'd be estatic with either.

I kind of want #2 pick as well so we are not forced to decide between Nico and Nolan. Yes, Nolan has had some injury troubles but that aside it looks like a tough choice. Both look great but offer different things.

I can see if we get #1 and pick Nolan but he bombs that we'll get ripped into pretty hard by fans yet if we pick him #2 because Nico was selected that it would suddenly be oh wells tough luck. Oh who am I kidding, no matter who we pick and if they bomb we'll get ripped apart by fans.

so assuming Canuck luck and we get 4th or 5th

who do you guys see as a good pick in that spot?
i'm not gonna lie, i haven't really paid much attention to this draft class outside of the consensus top 2

if top 2, i'm in for nico
Patrick's injuries is honestly concerning on a team that already has shit luck

The main reason why I want #2 is let the team picking first decide who we get... Yes the draft is that close now since Nico has been making up so much ground but that is because of Patrick's injuries and if he was healthy he would be leaps and bounds over Nico which is the main reason why I'm still wanting the Canucks to pick him.

It's so fricken tough this year and my gut honestly tells me we will win the lottery when I hope we don't. Anything outside the top 3 I think the Canucks should pick the stud D-man since he's a player we need and D are way harder to come by these days.

https://canucksarmy.com/2017/03/23/2...ankings-march/

just from reading this and looking up the top 5 quickly

Timothy Liljegren seems intriguing and might be that PP qb we've lacked and might just be who the Canucks call if we pick 4th, 5th

I personally think we should pick a centre this year, one of Vilardi or Mittelstadt (this is assuming we fall out of top 2) and save the dman for the 2018 draft.

Rasmus Dahlin looks like he'll be that rare, legit offensive dman in 2018

Watch Canucks get 3rd overall. Draft a player who will go back to junior. The following picks at 4 and 5 will play on the NHL or seem to be a better player in two years.
That's Canucks luck haha

We'll get first pick and when we do you can be sure whoever we pick will be the next Patrik Stefan or Nail Yakupov it's what we do! We are all Canucks.

Playing in the NHL immediately after the draft proves nothing.

Looking at the top 10 picks from the past 10 drafts:

2007 draft
5th overall Karl Alzner played 1 more season in junior
6th overall Sam Gagner immediately played in the NHL
7th overall Jakub Voracek played 1 more season in junior
9th overall Logan Couture played 2 more seasons in junior

2008 draft
3rd overall Zach Bogosian immediately played in the NHL
4th overall Alex Pietrangelo played 2 more seasons in junior
5th overall Luke Schenn immediately played in the NHL

2009 draft
-

2010 draft
4th overall Ryan Johansen played 1 more season in junior
5th overall Nino Niederreiter played 1 more season in junior
8th overall Alexander Burmistrov immediately played in the NHL
9th overall Mikael Granlund played 2 more seasons in Europe and 1 more season in the AHL

2011 draft
7th overall Mark Scheifele played 1 more season in junior
9th overall Dougie Hamilton played 2 more seasons in junior
^ Arguably the top 2 players in the top 10 from a draft where most of the top 10 immediately played in the NHL

2012 draft
1st overall Nail Yakupov immediately played in the NHL
6th overall Hampus Lindholm played 1 more season in Europe
9th overall Jacob Trouba played 1 season in college

2013 draft
3rd overall Jonathan Drouin played 1 more season in junior
9th overall Bo Horvat played 1 more season in junior
10th overall Valeri Nichushkin immediately played in the NHL

2014 draft
1st overall Ekblad was the only one to stick around the NHL full-time the first season, but it looks like there are a bunch of solid picks on the top 10 that went back to junior/Europe (Reinhart, Draisaitl, Nylander, Ehlers)

2015 draft
Marner, Provorov, and Werenski all spent another year in junior/college. Is Hanifin better than Provorov and Werenski because he was in the NHL a year sooner?

2016 draft
???

Point: Declaring draft winners and losers based on who made the NHL first is stupid.
