By the way, the people who are posting about the investigation taking a "year". So?

Have you folks never heard of police simply choosing a scapegoat in order to close a case to appease the public? This has happened countless times, it would not surprise me in a high profile case such as this one.

Look how long the investigation of Robert Pickton went on? To this day there are folks that believe he was used as a scapegoat, and that his brother, along with Hell's Angels associates were the main culprits for many of these murdered women found on his farm.

It just doesn't make sense.
Maybe he was a killer back in Syria.
As it's been said, kinda hard to vet when someone comes from a place where likely much of what little data there was could have been destroyed.

while we're spitballing, my guess is the guy committed another crime, got caught, and they matched his dna to the previous crime scene.

Or maybe he's completely innocent.
Who knows.

It just doesn't make sense.
the public knows so little about his MO
so why are you trying to make sense of it
it's even more pointless trying to do so from a Western perspective
we don't know what he's been through...he's a war refugee after all...may be he's seen shit that's really fucked him up...may be he has many other victims before this...we really don't know nor have reliable data from a judicial system that's likely of low priority in a civial war 5 years+

I agree we should keep politics out of this, let's hope justice gets served though if the evidence ends up being unequivocal
