have the refineries swapped to winter blend and high rates were due to their annual maints?

There was this post on reddit a few weeks back during the record peak.

Actually, our supply is almost completely detached from theirs.

The problem is pipelines or rather the lack of pipelines over the Rockies. We have enough pipelines for regular day-to-day operations but no spare capacity. As such, when there is extra demand or lack of supply for some reason, we run into trouble as there is no spare capacity.

In our case, we have two refineries down for maintenance (Ferndale in Washington State and Sturgeon in Edmonton) and a pipeline (the Olympic) that is also down for maintenance. The Sturgeon refinery should be back up any day now as it went down in early August. Ferndale has been down since the start of September and is expected to be back up in the middle of October. I can't find any info on the downtime required for the Olympic pipeline.
I'm guessing the two refineries are back up or at least one of them?

What does that equate to per twice a day vapour purging at your garage based fuel depot?

Are you saving 80 dollars a day? A week? A month?

It seems crazy and dangerous to me to stockpile gas. Would love to see the CBSA ban fuel transport over the border.

Dude $80 is still like 40 liters of gas, not sure what kinda baller you are, that's still like a week of gas. Or steak dinner for 2:accepted:

Just filled at Costco, $1.999 for premium

twitchyzero 10-13-2022 06:54 PM

you realize fuel is not only transported via pipelines right...

JDMDreams 10-13-2022 07:07 PM

And you really don't have to purge the gas unless you're a dumbass and let the cans sit in sunlight, the can might get slightly expanded but you can just slightly loosen the top to vent the pressure. Storing it in the shade in the garage is totally fine even in the summer.

My family buys 5k litres at a time. I understand that fuel price differences have an impact on your budget. It comes in a tanker truck, not an Uber w a trash bag of fuel in the trunk.

Fuel should be transported with maximum safety procedures only. It’s completely unsafe to fill your trunk up w jerry cans. It’s also super sketchy to store large amounts of it without proper ventilation.

If you want to go fill up a tidy tank in your pick up bed - go for it.

Accidents have happened and will happen again. Take away the legality of transporting it unsafely across the border and it goes away.

I get it - you guys get off on being frugal. Blowing yourself up isn’t worth a steak dinner.

Excellent price

Costco Bellingham is 5.39 for premium, which works out to be 1.965 CAD. The savings is pretty much neutralized.:heckno:

whitev70r 10-13-2022 08:12 PM

News said that for the first time in a long while, gas in YVR is cheaper than in Blaine.

JDMDreams 10-13-2022 10:28 PM

I thought $1.999 was expensive as regular petro and Chevron was only $1.9 for regular, not sure how much more premium would be.

Acura604 10-14-2022 08:13 AM

Costco Langley Oct 14

1.859 reg
1.979 prem

EvoFire 10-14-2022 07:00 PM

I paid $30 less than last tank. I couldn't have waited till tmr for the extra 3 cents

JDMDreams 10-17-2022 06:41 AM

Costco Bellingham was like $4.659 for regular and $ 5.15 for 92 :notbad:

Badhobz 10-17-2022 07:00 AM

i saw 1.88 driving into work this morning on granville and 41st esso.

ilovebacon 10-17-2022 09:06 AM

Since gas prices fluctuate so frequently. I should gas up every time I see a good price. Do prices jump each week?

JDMDreams 10-27-2022 09:25 AM

Gas prices back up :fuuuuu:

The Producer 10-27-2022 09:29 AM

10 cents off on journie membership right now - I think it's open to everyone. activate offer in the app.

Traum 10-27-2022 09:36 AM

And what is the excuse this time? The regional (west coast) refineries are supposed to be back up. Winter months are supposed to have lower demand. The winter blend is supposed to be cheaper to make. The forecasts from like 10 - 14 days ago were saying we should continue to see prices stay low for a while.

WTF? :fuuuuu:
