Man I thank my lucky stars that we no longer have to use a vehicle for daily commute at all anymore. My wife getting her new job downtown in February was so timely.

whitev70r 06-22-2022 04:37 PM

Yah, add the time and the gas to get to Pt Roberts .. nor worth it. Unless you're picking up a parcel or something in Blaine, grab a taco, or some oysters, and an ice cream at Edaleen.

Test drilling
Setting up new sites
Hire staff to drill, when there are no staff to hire
Transport that crude
Process it
Transport it again
Sell it
Clean the tanks that store it
New environmental safety policies (through all the steps above)
and literally every single person associated with that process, their wages have gone up, every year, for the last 10 years
Don't forget maintenance of all that equipment, legal, etc

the irony of high gas prices contributing to the raising of higher gas prices :awwyeah:

danned 06-22-2022 09:57 PM

go higher and higher until 10 dollar per litre

twitchyzero 06-22-2022 10:01 PM

shouldn't half of your list be reflected in the crude price? everything before refining

i mean the pricing stretched over years isn't unreasonable but to go from 87c to 240c in 24 months is wild regardless of the factors

donk. 06-22-2022 10:11 PM

I'm just a dumb plumber stirring the pot, i have no idea where a "crude barrel" sits on that list

Moreso a post, to point out there's alot more involved than: barrel 90$, so litre = 1$

Even if a barrel is half way down the list, often times companies will lose money in the early process, but make up for it in the end process, and vice versa

underscore 06-22-2022 10:13 PM

iirc pump price isn't only dependent on crude price, if there's any refinery/transport/etc costs that'll bump it up too.

but it was still weird getting laid off from an oil and gas job while gas prices kept going up.

yup... happy to report that I haven't had to get guzzoleeeeen since my June 6 Blaine fill up - the car has one full tank left, all jerries have been used. but that'll be enough to last me to the end of June. so total Gas purchase for this month ... $265cdn.

HOWEVER - i would NOT store my jerries next to my damn groceries like this guy:

BUT if gas prices keep going up - I may need a 'few' more Jerry cans like this guy:

Is there a life benefit to scrutinizing to the penny your gas costs, especially when you drive a luxury car and live in practically a mansion?

Who cares? I live in a condo and I don’t even look at the price of gas when I pull into a station. I need it, it goes in, it costs whatever.

Ain’t nobody got time for that / no awards being given out.

because we consumers are being SCREWED by this market - if there are ways to save without having to pay full price here in BC... do it.

 and please...the RDX is not a luxury vehicle.

This is how I feel.

Remember the early 00's when gas prices would fluctuate like 3 times a day in Vancouver and you'd have lineups down the streets for the drops. All to save like $5 back then.

My time is worth more than that.

Save old growth!

I like it when hippies use materials, that were made by oil production, to protest, further oil production

:Insert mouth breather gif:

Unless you live within 5 minutes of the border, you’re basically saying your time is worthless to cross and fill Jerry cans..

It’s honestly embarrassing to see people in X5’s etc. with a trunk full of cans. These are probably the same type that roll up in the X5 to a food bank. That’s just the elevated version of $200 in the bank with a $1000 Gucci belt

blkgsr 06-23-2022 12:56 PM

for the argument of historical crude price vs gas price there's many other aspects that have also increased during that time.

Every person involved wages have increased, taxes have increased etc

Mr.Money 06-24-2022 12:29 PM

would drive me crazy pouring all those fucking jerry cans inside my truck or car.

at that point, why not throw a 400 liter red fuel storage with a electric self pump on back of a truck and call it a day.

Spectre_Cdn 06-24-2022 12:56 PM

Import one of those JDM fire trucks and change the tank to fill gas.
