White privilege, in my opinion, does not mean that a white person will not experience racism in his or her lifetime.

A person being white will face the occasional racial slurs from people who are visible minorities. The big difference is that the white person who is the target of racial slurs won't know they are the target because the white person doesn't understand the foreign language in certain situations.

Plenty of examples that I can give you about white people experiencing racism.

Some white people like to eat at Chinese restaurants. I overheard a white guy order

i grew up like a lot of you guys experiencing racism as a child especially. when i moved from toronto to vancouver (surrey), my class had zero asians and even my whole school had like maybe 3. i had a really hard time fitting into my class, i was literally treated like shit and rejected by all my classmates for that first year because i was different. i noticed a change by the next year when they were more used to me and started treating me normally, but basically i had to prove myself to them while none of them had to prove anything to anyone their entire lives up till that point. so yeah it does bother me when people say racist shit to me, because i had to deal with that shit as a kid, not understanding why i was hated.

That white employee was really offended by those words. Why was he upset? Well, that white employee was born in the U.S. South. -treated with offensive words from Hispanic customers who assumed that he grew up in a trailer park. One Hispanic customer even asked that white employee if he made his own moonshine at home.

White privilege does not happen in that situation for that white employee. People of a different background made assumptions about that person and make insulting jokes at him to attack his background as a U.S. southern white person. Believe me, my cousin told me that guy was so pissed haha.

As a naturalized Canadian citizen through the official channels, I see the problems that birthright citizenship creates though. Here in Canada (or at least in Vancouver and Toronto), it gets abused by Mainland Chinese people to intentionally come here while they are pregenant. Then they give birth, and voila~ The newborn is a bona fide Canadian, with full entitlement to all the rights and benefits that every Canadian citizen is entitled to.

The US situation is obviously a little different, and my superficial understanding is that it is mainly with Hispanic illegal migrants settling down in the US, and eventually giving birth to newborns.

Unrestricted birthright citizenship is only common in N. and S. America. And just like immigration, I don't think it is wrong for a country's gov to set rules to determine how citizenship should be granted. The important thing is -- the rules need to be equally applied to everyone.
