MLK Day is a day to remember and honour that civil rights leader. An important day for African Americans.

Is Cheeto going to use inflammatory language to say something about "the blacks?" Hmmm.

January 20th — what a historic day! My inauguration, the start of a GREAT movement, and also Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honoring a true American HERO.

BIG day for African Americans, BIGGER day for America, folks! The Blacks...they love me, they love me so much for creating so many JOBS. So many great and wonderful BLACK JOBS. They love me so much they wanted me to become PRESIDENT on the day of their savior MLK's birthday. We’re making history AGAIN, like never before! #MAGA

Not satire: Trump Wants the Gulf of Mexico to Be the Gulf of America

Traum 01-07-2025 10:29 PM

Back in his first term, Trump was only somewhere between unconventional (on a good day) to unpredictable (on a crazy day). But now, he is down right chaotic at best, and plain old batshxt crazy at worst.

What the hell happened to him in the last 4 years?

Teriyaki 01-07-2025 10:53 PM

Nothing to lose. He can lose the facade of reason. Akin to, bro letting the intrusive thoughts win. Its going to be a wild 4 years, and the clock hasn't even started ticking yet. We're still in the pre-season...

I'm tired boss.

I do want to bring out a point. With Elon being there, he'll be convincing people to be back at the office 5 days a week, and then all the corp will do the same.... then trickle down to Canada

Dementia (undiagnosed).

Was watching this video that explains the borders of Los Angeles and it's such a good illustration of the nuttiness/selfishness of Americans. The city borders make no sense and create a tonne of waste but it's all about "my rights" and "my freedom".

Good, GTFO of here !!

Convicted Jan. 6 rioter arrested as fugitive in Whistler, B.C.

https://bc.ctvnews.ca/convicted-jan-...-b-c-1.7169378

An American citizen convicted of participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill who said he was seeking asylum in Canada has been arrested as a "fugitive from U.S. justice," according to authorities.

Antony Vo spoke to CTV News last week about his plans to apply for refugee status, saying he was fleeing persecution by the Biden administration.

CivicBlues 01-08-2025 08:21 PM

Fucking embarrassing a Viet-American guy is claiming refugee status in Canada when he's probably one generation removed from actual refugees

westopher 01-08-2025 08:25 PM

This fucking retard doesn't seem to know the difference between persecution and prosecution.

This Vo dude is gonna wait a long time just for the processing of his refugee application with Immigration, refugees, and citizenship Canada (IRCC). LUL

He's on the bottom of a priority list of applications from what I gather from people who I know used to work at IRCC.

Top priority is people who want to apply for citizenship, when they face a high risk of death in their country of residence.

Example: Ukrainians applying for refugee status.

Temporary measures are available to Ukrainians and their family members under the Canada–Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Depending on your situation, you may be able to apply for an open work permit or a study permit, or to extend your temporary status in Canada under temporary measures.

Then people who want to apply for citizenship from other countries are second priority.

Then you include foreigners who want to apply for a work permit under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
Next, you have the multiple applications of foreign students who are applying for study permits for the first time, or applying for study permit extensions.

I know of an SFU student who needs to wait for 134 days for his study permit extension. Current processing time is 134 days.

Refugees from America? No go for Mr. Vo. He's gonna wait a long time to hear back from Immigration haha. I hope that IRCC rejects his application when they finally get to reviewing his file haha.

Some news reports reference that there's no records of him crossing the border in. I wonder if it was that recent news article that prompted someone at CBSA double check his entry status. If he is here illegally, and with the focus on us needing to secure the US border, someone got ordered to address the issue.

6793026 01-10-2025 05:54 AM

^ they won't deny or confirm how he comes
if they confirm somehow how he came in = CBSA didn't do a good job of checking and / or validates there are leaks / ways to come in without going thru the border.

someone in PR is going to have ot use Chat gpt and find a way to deny this.

whitev70r 01-10-2025 07:27 AM

ho hum news .... Trump received unconditional discharge from hush money case, no jail time (obviously, they weren't going to put him in jail), no fines, but retains conviction record.

Traum 01-10-2025 08:48 AM

This sentencing is such a scam. What the hell happened to Fīat iūstitia ruat cælum?!

Great68 01-10-2025 09:33 AM

Was there ever any real risk he was going to prison for this? Even before the election it was widely stated that it would be quite extraordinary to receive jail time for this sort of crime. I certainly didn't expect it.

pastarocket 01-10-2025 10:18 AM

Trump's bullying behaviour and attempts to attack California's governor Newsom are out in the open during these terrible LA fires.

No sympathy from this piece of shit, that's for sure.

He really thinks that forestry management practices of California and lack of freshwater for fire hydrants are the cause of these forest fires? Really??

Cheeto just needs to politicize everything for his own gain. Criticizing FEMA (Federal emergency management agency) and the California governor.

I highly doubt this dude would do anything constructive and immediate to help California during these disastrous fires.

People lost their homes during these fires. Six people and counting died.

This would be a time to rally around the people of California. But no, Trump just opens his big mouth and bullies the California governor.

From what my cousins in California tell me, it has not rained in the Pacific Palisades and LA county area in over two months. High winds.

When you have warm weather, no rain, and high winds, wildfires can happen fast.

Of course, Cheeto denies climate change.

I am just proud that us Canadians are one of the first neighbours to help California. Quebec signed a decades old agreement to send firefighting planes, the Superscoopers, to help fight the Pacific Palisades fire and other fires.

It's sad to hear that one of the Superscooper planes wing got damaged by a drone yesterday.

Props to our Canadian firefighters to help our neighbours in California.

No, I also do not think there was ever any real risk that Trump was gonna get sent to jail. But getting an unconditional discharge, with no fine, no jail time, and only the title of a convicted felon are hardly creating the perception that justice has been served. In the eye of the average non-Trump supporter, Trump got off scot-free. I think it would have at least made more sense if this ruling actually levied some sort of actual punishment, be it actual jail time, some sort of probational sentence, a fine, or something first. And then the US gov, Trump himself, or somebody else invoke the special clause that a sitting president has immunity from criminal prosecution.

At least a roundabout process like that would bear more semblance of how the US is following the rule of law. With no jail time / probational sentence / fine, the picture is very clear -- Trump is being given preferential treatment despite him not being the sitting president.

I agree with almost everything you've said. At a time like this, it is despicable that a president in-waiting is still sowing division and spreading misinformation instead of rallying and supporting the state gov and its residents.

I find it esp repulsive that Trump is making false claims again about how there isn't enough water (to put out the fires). While there really is no water available at some fire hydrants, it wasn't because there was no water feeding the hydrants. The electrical company has turned off the power as a means to prevent transmission lines from sparking new fires, and that unfortunately caused the pumps feeding water to the fire hydrants to have no power. But the casual observer wouldn't know that -- all they see is no water coming out from the hydrants, and then it makes Trump's BS claim more credible.

At the same time, the LA mayor's prior absence and inability to answer the hard questions are only adding more ammunition for Trump to use.

I also find it wild that when people point out these facts (as reported by different news media), many idiot Trump supporters would instantly go on to say something along the lines of "these leftard media outlets are not to be trusted", or that they are reporting fake news. It's rich that these people would believe any and everything that Trump spews from his mouth instead news reported by actual news outlets...

Great68 01-10-2025 11:41 AM

Even if all the pumps were online, no fire hydrant system is designed to handle the the simultaneous demand of 50 square miles of fire.

Traum 01-10-2025 12:29 PM

It isn't just the fire hydrants either. The LA fire chief has said that they also lack the manpower to deal with simultaneous demands. And then there are the strong winds, which in my uneducated opinion, is the insurmountable force of nature that no amount of firefighting resources can overcome.

It all goes back to how much of a dick Trump is, and how bad his deliberate means to spread misinformation makes the matter worse.

68style 01-10-2025 01:34 PM

He said the same shit during Covid or any other situation in California... they didn't vote for me fucking Democratic state fuck them...

Yet he railed non-stop about supposed abuse of GOP states during hurricanes....... and he also forgets most voter splits in the USA are like 54/46 at the best of times, so actually like half the people losing their shit in the fire DID vote for his stupid fuckface.

Guy's such a jackass.

Newsom should just say that he hopes Trump Jr. enjoyed his sloppy seconds.

EvoFire 01-10-2025 02:41 PM

What's the over under on Trump getting a stroke or a heart attack during this term?

mikemhg 01-10-2025 02:45 PM

Even that bullshit from the Sky News journalist trying to catch the mayor was such a bad faith move.

She was in Ghana BEFORE the fire started and came back immediately. So what, she's not supposed to go on a pre-planned vacation while things are totally fine? These fuckheads are going after her for being in Ghana when the fire started but give Ted Cruz a pass for fleeing Texas to Cancun DURING an actual statewide blackout emergency while people were freezing to death in their homes?

Also fuck that old Karen cunt that went at Newsom about her kid's school being burnt down (another Sky News gotcha moment).

I fucking hate how shitty politics has become -- everyone is pandering lies and false narratives to politicize everything.

68style 01-10-2025 02:55 PM

Haha yah they're all talking about how she slashed the fire department's budget too... by $17M

And then they leave out the part where it went from $837M down to $820M.

Like holy fuck their fire dept budget is almost a billion dollars!! $17M was not going to change this outcome.

That's a crazy amount of $ for any state to have to spend on fire departments... wow.
