There was another black 1 series that was VI'd.

Plenty of reports of Porsche's and BMWs with MPE being VI'd as well.

How loud is your exhaust?

Not loud unless I step on it, but you can definitely tell there’s an exhaust.

westopher 05-30-2019 07:04 PM

If one of them see you, and they aren't busy, yes, you will get a VI. The chances of that happening are small. No one can tell you definitively if you are going to get one or not.

basically yes they can.
if modified and they see you, you'd better be expecting the VI...

even if stock, they can abuse their power and give you a VI, which at that point, you are fully in the right to get your car inspected and passed (since it's stock it'd better pass), and then rightfully file a complaint against the officer issuing the VI with an angry (but polite) letter stating that you feel the officer should be recommended for further education and training about cars and not abuse their power whenever they feel like it. you could even take it to the media and have a great case to show police power abuse.

Thanks to Bic Baws for this thread, of which I'm currently reading though page 40.

I was given a VI 2 at the end of February. Instead of disputing it and the ticket, I decided to file a complaint with OPCC against the unprofessional, hostile, ignorant, and unreasonable constable (not Cain) who badgered me. It took a month for the complaint to be deemed admissible, and I'm in week three of the official complaint process with the police complaint commission.

Here's an interesting case though: the incompetent cop who issued my NAO didn't even sign it, print his name, or enter his badge. I'm trying to get this invalidated, so that I can at least take my car to an accredited shop instead of BMW, but I doubt that the ignominious traffic section Sergeant to whom I must appeal will agree to throw it out. There's nothing wrong with my car, just Eisenman exhaust, wheels (which aren't cited in the NAO), H&R springs, and intake?!!! Yes, the bozo listed my Gruppe M intake. LoL.

I cannot say much else since my complaint is still under formal review, but regardless of what happens, I am likely to sue or at least speak to the press with my full identity (I have nothing to hide), while Cain and his cronies do.

Thank you for going through complaint process. The more we push back with legitimate and logically presented complaints, the higher our chances it is to see some sort of change.

You may or may not have read up to the post about an upcoming Police Board meeting. I have filed a complaint with the OPCC about the VPD's VI enforcement a while back as well, and the Police Board is set to discuss my complaint on Thurs, June 13. The details are as folllows:

Quote:

The Vancouver Police Board will now formally consider this complaint at the June 13th meeting of its Service and Policy Complaints Review Committee. The meeting will immediately follow the Board’s regular meeting, which will be held at the Jewish Community Centre, starting at 1:00 pm at 950 West 41st Ave. Both meetings are open to the public and are live-webcast on the Board’s website: www.vancouverpoliceboard.ca.

The agendas and papers for both meetings will also be available online from Tuesday, June 11th 2019. I will advise you in writing of the action taken by the Committee with respect to this complaint.
I am not hopeful that a positive outcome will result from this. But I am definitely going to see this one through.

Traum, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your efforts!

I'm still reading through this thread (page 70), but it appears that almost no one else has filed a personal complaint through the OPCC. My complaint won't go very far since it appears to be an anomaly and is directed at Cain's underling, so Cain will just protect him.

What I dearly want to see is every single person here who has been wronged file an official complain through the OPCC, especially naming Cain, who appears to be the mastermind behind this corrupt crusade. If you document your complaint clearly with evidence, truthfully describing Cain's ignorance, unreasonableness, and hostility, the OPCC will likely declare it to admissible. If everyone does that, the separate VPD office that handles the actual case will be bombarded with complaints against Cain that they cannot ignore or brush off. This would become a PR nightmare if nothing else.

You have 12 months from the day of the incident to file an OPCC complaint. If your vehicle successfully passed a VI without any significant changes, then you can also argue that Cain and co. are incompetent and are unfairly targeting legal, lightly modified cars.

BIC_BAWS, please check your e-mail. I have forwarded an interesting except from OPCC, which agreed that my complaint that the provision stipulated by the constable insisting that I MUST take my car to a BMW dealership is oppressive and unfair.

What a pro, heh?

BTW, I never knew that this VI fiasco was an epidemic until recently. I have owned my current car for exactly three years (bought it in its current form) and never had an issue before this incident. I have been stopped twice by VPD for "spirited driving," since owning this car but was let go both times quickly with warnings (my driving record is spotless, 18+ continuous years). Last year, a patrol car backed into my front bumper near my house. I had to wait an hour for them to report the incident and for their backup to arrive and take pictures. They were perfectly pleasant and never said a word about my car.

I have been working RIGHT NEXT to the RCMP in Steveston, Richmond for over a year now. Even the traffic cops there do not care about my car. I pass at least one or two each day.

GabAlmighty 06-01-2019 07:46 PM

I'd hazard a guess that that should be thrown out...

Could you please quote from the manual that the officer has to ask me to accelerate to 2500 rpms as the officer asked me to do so at 3500 I can use that in court because he was being voice recorded thank you

fishCak3s 06-01-2019 10:55 PM

Distance, angle and rpm listed in joonzn6's post for his inspection, not sure if it's the same.

THEY ONLY STATED THAT THE EXHAUST CURRENTLY ON THE CAR IS THE ONE ON PAPER BUT HAVE SAID THAT THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM SHOWING THIS PAPER TO THE POLICE AS PROOF.

That is quite a low blow. You're now just generalizing a group of people. Go back to the cave where you came from. :rukidding:
