I just got linked here. I didn't realize how many people were getting VIs. I got one last week. My wheels have right around 1" of gap from the fenders and my exhaust isn't stock... but it's not exactly a loud car. I have a cat and the exhaust is resonated. Besides, it's an Abarth. Some Abarth cars with this engine have no mufflers at all from the factory. I mean seriously. It was a motorcycle cop on Grandview near the Husky station.
A guy in an older Focus was getting vi'd at the same time.
what??? its not illegal to lower a car unless its 10cm or more. Exhaust needs to be under 86decible I dont think there is any law against modified exhaust. a fucking abarth really? Did you get any tickets with it? Thats unreasonable, the cop fucked you.
For the record, our Lord and Savior of dipshittery hasn't learned shit and put 5% front tint on a E38 7-series he plans to slam. People are buying the fucking stickers as well.
It's being quietly implied that at this time, anything other than 100% stock is illegal in Vancouver. It's basically disregarding a multi billion dollar aftermarket industry, and with winter tire season coming up, I would not be surprised if Joe Blow in his Civic gets pulled in for aftermarket winter wheels. Even Australia, notorious for handing out notices for modified cars, is more lenient. Hell, even Ocean City PD at H2O really only target the true morons.
Remember that scene in Full Metal Jacket where Private Pyle got caught with a jelly donut and Gunny Hartman said since he fucked up, everyone else serves the punishment? That's the vibe I'm getting.

There was a road block on knight bridge just before Ikea tonight with at least 6 rcmp. I saw 2 mustangs pulled over to the side. I wonder if thats related to this. I cruised right by in my stock fiesta ST.

how does that work if your car stock is around high 80's?
So where are you guys getting your vi done? This is getting ridiculous if you you just driving normally and get pulled over and slapped a vi. What do they say? Your car looks lowered, you have an exhaust, vi for you?
What can we do about this? Go vote? Complain on their media outlets?

Is there anything you can do if you got VI'd in like a 100% stock car? Like let's say you rolled into the road block in 1st gear at like 35km in a stock s2000

I would contact VPD/RCMP or whatever police agency issued the VI in this case before having it inspected if it's 100% stock. While you can't dispute VI's, you can get them cancelled. Your mileage may vary though.
CVSE Area Inspector has now confirmed that you actually cannot take it anywhere, and its part of the order.
Best part, no Porsche dealer in BC can do VI's LOL..
So what? You now have a several thousand dollar piece of metal that cannot be inspected? This would not be a problem if WHOEVER STARTED THIS SHIT JUST MANS THE FUCK UP AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY.
