Look, we renamed the Queen Charlotte Islands not too long ago to Haida Gwaii. AFAIK everyone says that name without any issue now and rarely hear the old name anymore.
Why all of a sudden we are using IPA alphabet no one uses and is unpronounceable to 99.999% of the population?

Like when land acknowledgements became a thing I had no idea how to say the names of the First Nations in those acknowledgements but I can do it now with a little bit of practice and it's a non-issue for me.
Eventually certain streets will be called by their Chinese names (or Japanese names) to recognise those cultures and their contribution to BC. I look forward to the whiteys saying "Pook Guy Crescent" and "Ding Lei Gou Fei Avenue".

I have no issue with the renaming, but the fact it costs money, and so much of it bothers me. Maybe let’s put that money aside to getting that clean drinking water on reserves first?

I'm so poor... for the last 3-4 years I've had less than $1000 available in life at any moment. Like literally surviving on hand-outs and soup kitchens. Most of the most enjoyable things in life was pretty cheap.

Other than crackheads, 99% of people are actually chill and you can 100% guess exactly what people will say and think.
